GRAFTON HILLCLIMB
56astro - June 9th, 2003 at 12:34 PM

Had a great day at Grafton. A small VW contingent consisting of Stan Pobjoy - 1916 formula Libre; Colin Mayman - 1916 beetle; Jeff Unwin - 3400 subie-powered notch; Wayne Penrose - 2842 beetle.

Craig Torrens didn't front. He didn't have to either - his course record in class 15 was safe by a massive 2 seconds, the majority are a further few seconds back. No wonder he was getting bored with hillclimbs and turned his attention to what Jak and CT do.

I think Stan got 3rd fastest overall, he was 3rd last to race in the top 12 shoot out anyway.

The thing Peter Gumley drives is awesome.

Pics?

Sorry, too busy watching to take photos.

Glad you had a enjoyable day !

Would have loved to run , but I have changed my gearbox to a stock type 3 which would have died after the first launch !!!!
Will be running two cars shortly so this should not be a prob, changing gearboxes etc, just get into the other car !!!

:D:D

the subaru engined notch is 2 litre. 3400 comes from the turbo penalty factor of 1.7.
It was 8th outright I believe.

I thought that "3400" was a strange capacity. It makes sense now.

It blew a lot of smoke (must have somthing to do with the 'puter or sumfin!).

Also it sounded like it had a sequential gearbox, his gear chages were very slick.

nup, just a kombi box with berg shifter, and no sympathy for mechanicals.
