hello again to all of you....
I want to get some rear fenderskirts on my 57 beetle... now a good firend has told me he will have a crack at making them for me, and with his skills
... i believe he is more than capable of making them.
What i need to get as neither of us has ever seen one up close is some detailed pics of one... because neither of us have a clue how they attach to
the fender..
so if any of you out there have any pics or plans for these fenderskirts ... or even if you can point me to a website where i can find the much needed
info ... please ! , i would love to hear from you ..
thanks again :bounce
57 Cal look
It really depends on what "type" you want! If you want the Foxcraft type, I believe the have brackets that bolt on to the top area of the
arch, and have holding brackets at either end, and Then you have your Aussie type, which just clip on to the fender! Soory I dont have pics
though!

For all the hasle it would be more ecomonical to buy the aussie ones,Contact empi via u2u he can get them if you check old post in the for sale section on this forum I think it was posted something like for sale fender skirts! He will probably read this anyway and fill you in,Cheers
If you want to buy the aussie ones contact Cauchi's auto accessories in Melb on 0412544651. I spoke to him about a month ago he said to just order them and he'll have them ready whithin a week. They come with every thing you need, just paint them and put them on and for $100 a pair I wouldn't think its worth stuffing around making them.
The only ones I would make are the Foxcraft style! But where do you get one from to take the pattern from?
N!
Ok then , but what do the Aussie ones look like ?
I have NOS VW ones, but the Foxcraft ones are virtually identical as far as I know.
I am with Rhett, and buy the ones from the guy in Melb. Even if they are crap, then whack em on anyway and source others.. Or Adams for that matter.
The ones on my Bug are Foxcrafts Jim, and no, they are not even close to identical. The foxcrafts have subtle curves and the mounting method is really easy. I purchased mine from the US several years ago....Creative Car Craft in the US still sell exact fibreglass replicas based on the Foxcrafts.
Here my other even rarer skirts for the Ghia...still under my bed, someday to be re-installed maybe..... just got tired of getting hassled by Cops!
It would be very easy to create a subtle curve and a lip on the oz ones. All you need is a good bloke like Sprinstar to lend you his to duplicate.Hey A....How about it?
Yep, hook line and sinker.. I aimed that one post at one person, and the one person was reeled in..
If one person was to know, that would be Aldo. I have the Aussie ones, and so I know when the Foxcraft ones are described, I can imagine the
differences.
Thanks Aldo. Wasn't having a go at ya, just that you would know, thats all, and quite simply, I wouldn't.
Super Sweet Splitty
well sprintstar... you dont need to lend me one , but how about taking some pic's and postiing them... my mate can do the rest...
how about it ?
Sprintstar - why would you get hassled by the Police.?
if they have nothing better to do than pull someone over because the car has been individualised then....move to NSW.
Sprintstar.
The reason you get 'hassled' by the Police, is, they just want a look at your well presented car. I've had that, they can't just
say, "I've pulled you over, just to perv at the car."
But they do do that! What other reason?
Regards,

Nah, they pull aldo over, cause the car is WAY TO LOW!!!!!! They way it should be! With the skirts on it looks like the sides of the car are scrapn
the ground!

If everyone was cruisin around with foxcraft fender skirts then it would be hard to stand out.Not just that they are rare.I scored my beetle for $100 it had foxcraft front and rear gravel gaurds well worth way more than $100.A thanks for the source on the fibo ones getting a set to reproduce in metal.{For OILDRIPPERS ONLY}
Well, if thats the case, My Aussie ones are for sale for the price of the repro ones for Oildrippers!

N hold on to em easy to make a subtle curve and roll em out a bit at the bottom and a lip.I got close up shots of foxcraft ones easy to pull this off.Im puttin em on my square with the thick chrome continuing along the skirt.I think it looks wak if you dont follow the trim all the way.
Well Kustomkool,
can you post these pics of the fox crats ones ?.... cos yeah i can buy them for a hundred ... or i can make them for $40.
so ... you tell me which is better... all i need is the pics.. so we can get making....

I'll try and post some close-up shots...no offence taken at all Jim, I was just trying to inform people of the difference. My advice, be carefull about the size of the tyres, don't forget about sidewall movement when turning fast as it will 'tear' if off the guards if it catches. Max size should be 165....unless tubbed...someday?
thanks sprintstar.
you can also email them to me..
cheers
