Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone knows Rob Jurgenson or even knows if he is still on these forums.
I went to school with Rob and remember he was into vw's back then, but haven't seen him in over 20 years.
Thanks, Kev
Is this him?

Robert Jorgensen
Name now Bob Jorgo
Current Location Canberra - never left
Years at Deakin 5
Relationships
Married Helen Lewis almost 20 years ago - no kids as I never grew up so why have the competition.
Life since school
Stayed in Canberra. Joined the Public Service and still there 35 years later but really looking forward to retirement in the next year or two. Got
into motorbikes but an accident put me off them for 20 years - then got back into them some years ago as I mellowed (got older and wanted to recapture
some of those youthful past times). Have remained interested in motor related hobbies (rallying, slot cars, radio control cars, computer racing games,
etc) but seem to get more involved in helping with the organisation of events than actually competing. I enjoy going to visit family in Queensland and
like to be mainly on the road - generally 15 hours up to Caloundra on the Friday, visit for a day and then return on the Sunday. I've gotten older,
lost more hair, have poorer eyesight, put on weight, memory going and cannot do half the things I think I can - still having lots of fun though and
hoping to improve fitness to be healthy enough to enjoy old age!!!!
I've lost touch with virtually eveyone from school days but was glad to be told of the reunion - I'll be there to catch up with classmates and
remember those far gone days (where did 35 years go).
Memories of school
I think I enjoyed school and it was certainly easier than when I had to first go to work although I was paid for that activity - bought a car after
working for 3 months and have been in debt ever since. After 35 years, I'm struggling to remember those school days but the memories I have are
generally good ones.
Memories 60s and 70s
I still like the 60's and 70's music but have no favourites. I liked watching motorsport and was amazed that they could get a tape of a race
overseas on to the Australian tv screens within a week - I've obviously got more impatient because I am now annoyed if the telecast is not live.

Hi
I knew Jurgo, he was very much into VWs but got out of them a few years ago, in my humble opinion, he built one of the one of the best modified bugs
in Australia, its still around.
Steve
he still lives in the same place
Transparu - Thanks, but thats not him.
1303Steve - Yeah, thats the photo I found that reminded me off him. I remeber even at school before we got our drivers licenes that he was building a
VW.
vw54 - I only recall roughly where his parents lived not far from the school we went to at Condell Park.
Thanks all for the info. Kev
Hi
So you went to Condell Park high? Phil74Camper dad was a teacher there.
Steve
I finished year 10 at Condell Park in 1982. You do the maths !
Cheers, Kev
Hi
Jurgo had Phil's dad for industrial arts I think, I went to Joey Banks around the corner, I finnished year 10 (called 4th form then) in 1970.
Steve
Yeah my Dad (you'd know him as Mr Matthews), was the Industrial Arts master at Condell Park from 1977 to about 1990, after which he went to Menai
high and was there until he retired in 1997. He died of melanoma in 2005. I hope he passed on some of his wonderful workshop skills to you ! He forgot
more about woodwork and metalwork than I'll ever know, and he gave me my love of VWs.
Steve did you have Mr (Roy) Shorter at Condell Park? I think he was the deputy there for many years. He and Dad were mates but Roy died a year before
Dad did.
I think Jurgo is still a Club Veedub member but he doesn't come to meetings any more. I did see him at the Nationals either last year or this. He was
a vital member of the SKAB team (Sebastian, Keith, Adam, Bob), and a nice bloke.
Yes, I remember Mr Matthews, along with Mr Henderson, Mr Unwin and others. Sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I still have the tension wrench
somewhere that I made all those years ago.
Now that I am into VW's I will have to keep an eye out for Jurgy, although they couldn't find him about 4-5 years ago when we had a school reunion
:-(
Thanks again, Kev
