New 40 Series Pirelli tyres for VW (not) - OMG
Camo - December 12th, 2008 at 05:24 PM

Check out these tyres that arrived today whilst I was at the tyre shop. They are 315/40R-26. Yes, 26". The photo doesn't do them justice, they are F'n huge.

You can see the normal 15" tyres beside them as a comparison on the right and the 3 other 26" laying on their side to the left.

Do you mean on motor bikes, as these are car tyres. I think they said about $600 a tyre, not to bad.

what sort of pressure would you have in those? With over 2 tonne rolling on them it wouldnt take too much of a bump to destroy a wheel

notch-72 - December 12th, 2008 at 10:42 PM

A half descent pot hole would destroy them.
Just found out Thoes 30's with tyres $17227.00 US !.......

whatnow - December 13th, 2008 at 06:25 AM

with a rolling diameter of that size it would have to be a massive pot hole for the car to wheel to even dip into it.

mmmm just the other day the council up near my works decided to cut a 45 cm gap in the road to lay pipe and then fill it with sand and leave it over the weekend, on Monday i was driving and i see the ute go over this hole (where the sand used to be) would of been about 4-6cm deep and bang all 4 low profiles were wrecked. And a few seconds later another car had the same thing happen...

Joel - December 13th, 2008 at 10:38 AM

thos 26s would have an awefull ride
i had 18s with 35 series tyres on bug and laser for a while and u feel every little bump and divot in the road
often feels like driving along a corrigated iron roof
but then again thats par for the course with north coast roads

i hear ya eraser
gotta love dumbass council work sometimes
there big roadworks trucks drive fine over it so the publics cars will as well......

ive got a set of 17" rims under the house that are nearly new and 2 are f**ked cos of dodgy roadworks

notch-72 - December 13th, 2008 at 11:34 AM

ouch thats gota suck joel.
I heard a rumour that a mob in sydney indian something there got the matt black vans..I herd there got a golf with 24s,anyone else herd this?

I dont like em or the big mags ,the mags are to heavy its like they are made cheap:crazy: And a lot of the young blokes get the mags and tyres on the interest free loan from bob jane etc and the tyres wear out before they can pay them off  then they dont have another $300 for a new tyre

On my celica (no not the VW) i have Bridgestone potenzas, so far without rotation i have got a good 20,000 on them and looks to get another 15 or there abouts.. Real nice set of tyres and hold the road well. (will put them on the VW when I'm ready)

On the orig 68 VW i was running firehawks they went 70,000 kms but i unfortunately couldn't buy them any more as they stopped making them in the size i wanted (225), i got some others in 225 (cant remember the name will advise) but they were like driving on toy car plastic wheels, often turn and vw would like to continue forwards.
