A friend of mine saw this in the city (Sydney) and took a photo for me. Aparently it's only $200!!!
Thats very clever as are all of those lego models,it's hard to believe the hours that go into this sort of modelling.I wish thaat I had that much spare time.
My little boy loves lego and beetles, shame the price is a little high or i would grab this for him cheers shane.
mm i have seen a few of these on ebay as of late, hard to find. might go to toys r us and layby it or 5 :P.
I have seen a large scale Millenium Falcon (Han Solo's starship from Star Wars) that was almost $1000. If I had of had $1000 bucks burning a hole in
my pocket it would be mine right now. (Not a star Wars geek just really bought back memories from when I was a kid).
Found a picture of one.
Cheers
Brendan
I was a leggo kid that is awsome i want one. Better save my pennies
Larger scale Lego Beetles (say half a metre or more long) would give a much more accurate rendition than that little kit. I remember seeing one years
ago in a Lego exhibition at Grace Bros in Roselands, in dark blue, which was about a metre long and very detailed. I don't have a photo of it,
though.
Then again, very small scale Kombis can be cute.
Just saw one of the Beetles yesterday in David Jones at Castle Towers (Castle Hill) for $200. By the look of it, it was fairly complex as far as Lego
kits go. So if someone wants to buy themselves a Xmas present...
All the best
Dunno - i will be bitchy
But for $200 i reckon it looks crap
I saw these on special at David Jones last week for under $150 - these are real cool if this is your sort of thing. Pretty amazing detail too with the motor and everything else that opens and shuts. Needless to say that I bought myself one - can't wait to get into it these holidays. It could take a while though, over 1600pcs!

Yeah, they're normally $199, but DJs were having a 25% off all toys sale last week, so I only paid $149.95. Having said that, I was more than happy to pay the $199 given the cost and wait of purchasing from Lego through their website directly (as I wasn't expecting to find this set in a local shop! - and ebay buys have been well over $200) so I was pleasantly surprised. I got mine from DJs at Chermside - they had about 8 others in stock when I got mine. I guess that all sales would be strictly 'off' now for the last couple of pre-christmas shopping days!
I must admit I'm with Bizarre on this one, having had a close look at the box in DJs. The Beetle is defined by the curve of its bonnet, and even given the size (it is nearly half a metre long) it still looks too blocky. Some of the other detail is great, so why they couldn't improve the bonnet I've got no idea. Still if my beautiful wife was to buy one for Christmas I wouldn't complain, although I'd prefer the money to be thrown at Gwendolyn.
i think these look really good. i cant believe that so called vw enthusiasts are criticising such an item. whats wrong with you guys? if i could afford one id have one too. will see what the new year sales bring for dirk.
