not sure how far spread the problem is but most of SE QLD and northern NSW is running low on fuel atm due to the caltex brisbane refinery being out of
action since last friday
living off the land my livelyhood depends on diesel and atm its the most critical
only 2 servos in town here had diesel yesterday and one was only selling to trucks
which doesnt help me cos im spraying at the moment and the tractor is using about 70L a day plus ive got the old man out on the mower which is using
about 30L a day
i took the precaution of filling 3 of my cars up yesterday plus a 20L drum which hurt the bank balance abit but payed off as woolies only had 3
unleaded bowsers still operating and said their supplies were getting low and the pressure this is putting on the other servos is having the same
effect
its been said this problem wont be sorted till around new year

MOTORISTS can expect fuel shortages across southeast Queensland and northern NSW following an incident which shut down the Caltex refinery in
Brisbane.
Caltex said in a statement on Thursday some of its service stations would run short of fuel in coming days, following the incident involving a lack of
steam to the refinery.
"Caltex has had to restrict the total supply of fuel from its Lytton refinery and, as a result, stock-outs can be expected at various service
stations," the company said.
The shortage is expected to impact the availability of diesel, unleaded petrol, premium unleaded petrol 95, premium unleaded petrol 98 and E10.
"The tight supply availability is due to the unplanned shutdown of Caltex's Lytton refinery on Friday, December 12," the company said.
"The refinery is being progressively brought back to full production."
Arrangements have been put in place to ensure emergency services vehicles remain supplied with fuel.
yea joel it's starting to get bad up here to, not good seeing though its the week before christmas..we had about 3 servo's out just around my area last night.. thank god i filled up on tuesday
The shortage problem is only going to get worse if everyone races out and gets more then their usual every week running worth.
That's the problem with it. It's not that they aren't producing, but not having enough stock levels in storage.
The fuel gets taken out of stock quicker then it can be produced. there for leaving only selected sites for maybe 1 delivery for the week, instead of
2 or 3.
The fuel is back in production so don't panic
am i right in thinking that ALL the fuel for you guys comes from ONE refinery? BP. SHELL, Peak, Caltex, independants, etc etc
hmmmm how is competition supposed to work with that? and if what you are saying is right then all the fuel at all the stations should be the same
price.
I had this question for caltex down here in SA, they told me that the different fuel companies bring in their own oil and it gets refined in the same
caltex plant but then is held in a caltex tank until the associated tanker comes and picks it up, its from here that the difference between markups
can occur, and also the cost of the oil from the companies, he said the different companies request different amounts of ethanol added to their fuel
at this point too.
