I've seen some sweet looking NOS starters on the Samba. Anyone ordered big parts from the states off the Samba? Good experiences? Shipping nightmares?

Any info would be welcome.

Taa and happy new beer.

yep,
i bought a set of wide 5 fuchs through a member on the samba, after i paid for them i found heaps of stuff out about the member i bought them through, apparently he was selling things and not shipping the goods etc ...this concerned me to the tune of 1k . at the end of the day my rims turned up really quickly all boxed up fine , they just had plenty of curb rash and marks on them ..
what i would suggest is to check the members seller feedback before committing and ask plenty of questions so you know exactly what and when the bits should turn up ..

this is how my rims looked when they arrived...

then i had to file sand and sand then polish and paint them , this was very time consuming and painfull

they turned out nice in the end as i could detail them closer to the original fuch style, but hey i could have saved 1 week of my life with no polishing if i had just bought some of the shelf rims

yeah, i've bought heaps from the samba.........all good experiences, but CHECK SELLER FEEDBACK FIRST!!........send a few emails, and see if their communication is good, get them to do some shipping quotes both air and sea, if they are out to rip you off, it's less likely they will enter into too much communication (well my theory)

with the $$ wheee it is now, would it be worth buying som ething like a strater tho........i normally only go for bargains or rareites.

if you wanted them fully polished you would have been disappointed ,these had been polished very roughly all the edges looked uneven and horrible.
i was always going to paint them the polishing part was a bonus :td: shit happens worked out in the end

Thanks guys - actually I just bought one from Seagull in WA.
I'd much rather keep the money in the aussie family at the moment.

Shame about the exchange rate!!!

That is great advice!

Remember, TS is a forum, like AVD. There are good people and bad there. While Everett can and does ban the obviously fraudulent some folks have to get burned before that can happen.

Check out the feedback section and also look at the seller's posts. Someone with a bunch of stuff for sale but who only has a couple of posts is waving a red flag particularly if they joined recently.

Make sure the seller is up to speed on international shipping procedures. US folks aren't quite as knowledgeable concerning international shipping as folks are on your end.
