braken - January 5th, 2009 at 04:10 PM

Anyone know if this place operates at all. been trying to ring for the last week, all i am getting is a fax:grind:Do they have a new number or still closed for the xmas break. or maybe theres another dealer around here that would like to take my money.

VDUBXTC - January 5th, 2009 at 04:32 PM

Relax dude. You have been trying to cantact him over Xmas. what else would you expect other then silence?

Mick motors closed its doors from Dec 24th and will reopen on the 14th January 09.

I would take it as a guess with george at classic being a family man and all. He may be taking some time out with his family as well .

vwtyp2 - January 5th, 2009 at 04:51 PM

when you do eventually get through to him, rest assured you will get the best service available.

braken - January 5th, 2009 at 04:58 PM

yep i know that, just having a bad day today, trying to organise stuff before car arrives and keep hitting brick walls:blush:

barls - January 5th, 2009 at 06:37 PM

its george hes a very busy man. i was there the other day there were 3 customers wandering around and he had 9 phone call while i was there. i was only there for 15 minutes.

BillK - January 5th, 2009 at 07:15 PM

According to a 'flyer' he emailed out to some of his customers before Christmas, he closed down from 24 Dec and reopened his shop today..

:D

squizy - January 6th, 2009 at 10:15 AM

Never had a problem either on the phone nor when I walk into the shop. He and the other George are always there happy to help. Yes the phone does ring, and yes he takes the call, but if you give yourselves the time during the day, it's always a pleasant experience.

Come on fellas it is christmas/new year and quite a few places close down to have family time,I realise it is a bit of a bugger when you want something now,but the world isn't going to end if you have to get it elsewhere and there are plenty of other suppliers advertising in the VWMA. I deal with both George at Classic and Mick's along with qite a few other suppliers and find them vey amiable and eager to help,I realise that George is hard to get hold of sometimes but most times if you ring early to mid morning he answers fairly quickly.Happy new year to all and I hope you get the service you want in the future.

ratbug - January 6th, 2009 at 05:49 PM

Yeah from the classic veedub email they said they would reopen this week.

I've bought parts from Classic and Mick motors several times and have had great service from both parties. I probably mail order through Mick Motors more as I use his website with all the part no's which comes in handy, and I order with the part numbers via email.

I've been in the Classic shop a few times when in Sydney and bought stuff there, and yes he is constantly getting phonecalls from people wanting prices, stocks, ordering and even advice etc.

Everyone goes on holidays this time of the year its expected in the motor trade.

My bug stopped in QLD on the 2nd Jan and it wont be home till mid next week due to chrissy hols, have to wait for a car carrier company to bring him home. I'm not worried these things happen. It's that time of the year can't be helped.

What's the old saying don't worry be happy.

braken - January 6th, 2009 at 08:53 PM

never started this to flame any stores, wanted to find out if anyone knew if he was closed for chrissy still. still trying still fax machine.have purchased from them before always had great customer service and quick delivery.and still will if i ever get through:smilegrin:But in the mean time found all the stuff i need for the time being from clip1. resonable delivery and prices for a U.S store. so all is good:tu:

I think maybe for amounts over $1000. Or that could be for import duty, I don't know.

braken - January 6th, 2009 at 11:54 PM

I buy stuff all the time from the states, never had i ever payed any extra for gst or duty. Just keep the amount below $1000 . Unless i am missing some info, and things have changed in the last couple of months

Nothing better to do ?

Where are all Lee's posts, his experiences were relevant, not particularly flattering of Classic, but still no less relevant.

vwsteve - January 7th, 2009 at 11:00 AM

hes always been good to me, quick with delivery etc,....by the way, it looks like the raindeer on his website are giving the bird:lol:

MickH has done his job. I respect that my posts have been deleted. and I'm sure lee does too.

A question was asked and it has been answered.
let this thread go off into the forgotten.

I've got lots of better things to do than babysit people posting non relevant comments. While I also respect Lee's opinions etc they were NOT relevant to the topic heading.Unlike others here (well some anyway) I actually like this forum and don't see how bagging out on some sponsors is a posetive step to keeping it up and running. Remember also I'm a Moderator, not Admin.

General Chit Chat?

General bitching?

Or specific topical conjecture.

I took part in the "General Chit Chat" spirit of things. I thought that was what these threads were supposed to be about? Is babysitting (editing) really required?
