This is the former Ampol, 'South Bankstown'.
I'm not sure about this one - I think it may be what is now the fruit and veg store on Chapel Rd, opposite Bankstown Oval.

Sure was.  Back then we use to ask if they wanted their tyres checked, oil and water.  And even use to fit wiper blades as well for them.

Ampol rust proof petrol???  Can't remember that one...
AMPOL used WAYNE branded pumps...
Most others used GILBARCO Pumps...
I did see that the pumps on that golden fleece servo were Wayne pumps..  fat squaty one with lots of stainless steel...

Yes, they actually put water in the cooling system back then.....

I don't know where this one was. Is this Canterbury Rd? If so, facing towards, or away from, the city?
I like the price of petrol in the rose photo! i think it reads 5.95 cents
