Happy redneck day to all.

Apart from the day off, I actually dont like Australia Day. Too many people think its a licence to get completely smashed and act like complete morons. ANZAC Day is heading that way too. If only we could harness this patriotism for good not evil, and direct the free thinking towards coming up with something a little more creative than the lame arse Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi. I reckon Kevin07 should form a committee and offer grants to make it happen.

_me_ - January 25th, 2009 at 11:44 PM

happy 'straya day to all youse too - polished the bug for 3 hours today and will be off driving down the NSW coast tomorrow - hoping to make Jervis Bay...

Took the family for a cruise down to Forster in the beetle, Cold Rock Ice cream, swim at the beach & some excellent fish & chips, and now we are back home & the kids are asleep.

Top Day to be Australian I reckon.

Cheers
Brendan

one in every crowd.......dissapointed Chris with the sweeping generalisations on a thread showing the exact opposite:no:

i'm enjoying a neighbourhood bbq with all the people i see each day, wave to, wake up with my noisy 48's and straight cuts morning and night, but don't have time to chat to......... we are having an absolute ball listening to the hottest 100 on JJJ, knocking back a few........not much redneck to that!.......

HAPPY AUSSIE DAY TO YOU ALL!

NuZo - January 26th, 2009 at 04:47 PM

sigh ... i worked! ( im casual, leave me alone!!! ) got home, and now going to either a cruise to wollongong, or bbq @ a mates, not too sure yet...

donn - January 26th, 2009 at 05:38 PM

Bloody hell amazeer, get happy mate, all is not lost we are not all rednecks, whatever that is (some American jargon I think, certainly not Australian), get out there mate and spread some joy, if you don't like the place, (yeah I know you said "Australia DAY") then try to find another place thats better, maybe you would be happy there, and Ozzi Ozzi Ozzi is one of the things that make up who we are, sure not a real important thing, but it's ours, come on mate, smile, it wont hurt I promis.

Phil74Camper - January 27th, 2009 at 08:13 AM

I spent all day at the NRMA Motorfest, as I put my Kombi camper on display. We had about 12 VWs on display, including two other campers and 5 or 6 Beetles. Ray Black's Kubelwagen was the star - it always had a dozen people crowded around it.

I was so busy talking to people I didn't get any photos - sorry. Did anyone alse get any?

greedy53 - January 27th, 2009 at 08:33 AM

what a great day ,i went to stanwell park with my daughter and gran kids and old but true friends,
no bbq but a sandwich saled a bit of wave running trying to race them with the kids. a game of cricket HAD A BLOODY GREAT TIME
SO BRING IT ON and no hoons just familes of all countrys doing australia proud

amazeer - January 27th, 2009 at 08:51 AM

I spent the first 4 hours volunteering on crowd control... not so much fun, then the following 9 hours at the pub watching Australia get flogged at the cricket. At least the scenery was nice

zeuspig - January 27th, 2009 at 09:58 AM

Ate alot of meat and drank a hell of alot of beer.

Fininshed the day off will a belly flop challenge in the blow up pool.

helbus - January 27th, 2009 at 07:37 PM

BBQ with people I don't see often, JJJ hottest 100 in the background, what seemed like a dozen kids running around the back yard on the Hills playgym, in the sandpit, in the vege patch. A few beers slowly and responsibly consumed, waved to everyone who walked pat and they all waved back. Just a lazy happy cheery day.

Where the hell are you now???????

My Australia day was spent driving to Canberra and back in order to give the people of our fair capital a great display of parachuting excelence (did that sound sucky enough).

Oh and i did a great job as the comentator for the jump, only swore once infront of a bloody big crowed (i was rather proud of myself).

Lee.

penguin - January 30th, 2009 at 05:46 PM

So who was parachuting if you said it was a "great display of parachuting excellence"??? Can't have been anyone from the Army thats for sure! :P
Ms Jay and myself are currently holidaying up here in (sometimes sunny - sometimes rainy) KL.
Back at work Monday :(
