What diameter steering wheel do you have?

Just wondering what diameter aftermarket / sports steering wheel does everyone have on their beetles?

I've currently got a 350mm diameter on mine which makes it feel like I'm driving a pedal car & has seriosly increased steering effort compared to stock wheel, I reckon about 380mm would be ideal, & am seriously considering going back to stock as I cant seem to find many options for wheels that are larger than 350mm diameter.

What have you got, where did you get it & how do you like it?

300 and 350mm are the standard aftermarket wheel sizes
there isnt much around over that

try a carrera superbug with 8" jellybeans running 235 tyres and a 10" dished steering wheel then u'll think ur bug has powersteering


if ur not after looks then later golf steering wheels are smaller but still bigger than 350mm but they fit the taper spline shafts which is 74 onwards so u would need to swap out a steerign shaft like in this thing

I have 350mm steering wheels in both my Bajas. Steering isn't particularly hard. Though when I drive I never dry wheel any car, power steering or not. I always have the wheels rolling a little if I can help it. Takes the strain off the power steering pump, or your arms.

When I'm shopping for wheels the quoted size (diameter) is the OD of the wheel, correct ? or is it an imaginary diameter in the centre of the grip (OD of grip - ID of grip) if you know what I mean?

anything bigger than the stock sizes means a custom wheel ,which becomes very expensive ,i`ve asked auto parts before when i had my 4wd:)

Mines 300mm and I don't have a problem with steering its a breeze.

And I always move the car before you start to turn the wheel.

You should try a 300mm on an old holden then you will know what effort is, especially in the summer.:lol::lol::lol:

I run a 300mm wheel. It depends on what size tyres you have on the front as well as the general condition of the front end. I used to run the same wheel with 195's on the bug but now I'm running 145's. Steering is so much lighter. Looking at the MOMO site it seems 350mm is their size for all of their steering wheels. Small wheels on bigger cars make the steeering effort greater. I'm with Rose on that one. Old Holden's and small steering wheels are not fun at all.
