Robo - June 15th, 2003 at 07:30 PM

How many of you made it to hardings this year, and did anyone get any good scores? I got there at 7.30 and didn't see much there that was any good!
Rob....

Yeah I went, Not a huge turn out, I thought it was bigger. Oh well a fantastic sunny day and a chance to see some Vw's all in one spot, so all in all not a bad day.:)

Robo - June 15th, 2003 at 08:03 PM

yeah thats what I thought, I'm sure there were more people, cars and stuff last year, where was every one?

Andy - June 15th, 2003 at 08:44 PM

edit: Hi to the people I saw, Robo, Tazz, 11Cab, Byronbug, 62Kombiute, Dasdubber, Bigbore. Anyone I missed?
Herbie, you were pulling in as I was leaving!!

There were less people there this year than last but I got a great original jack for my beetle as well as some original key blanks from Alec (Klub VW Toowoomba) and some locks to make all my keys match. Bought more than I thought although I am still looking for some good panels fro my 68 sedan.

Dasdubber - June 15th, 2003 at 09:05 PM

I was there too trying to sell some gear - a lot less people unfortunately and not enough people willing to open their wallets :)

Nothing there that was any good?? A set of powdercoated original steel 4 lug sprint stars for $1200 ONO, a set of 5 wide 5 slotted wheels with caps for $400 ONO....plus other miscellaneous stuff at reasonable prices...anyway, thats life of a swapper I guess - it depends on what you're after, time for ebay (already tried the forum with no success :(

Picked up a pair of early popouts (pre 64) for my mates beetle - nice score at a good price. It was a lovely day that is for sure.

Starbug - June 15th, 2003 at 09:23 PM

I wish i didnt have to work saturday... :( i needed lots of stuff for cherry and im sure i would have found it there, as well as meeting lots of forum members!

is it on the same time every year or is it a short notice thing? cos if its the same time next year i'll be sure to INSIST that i dont work that day!

bugboymatt - June 15th, 2003 at 09:33 PM

I went along kinda thought there was gonna be more than there was but no complaints.......
Picked up a mag which had my bug in it when it belonged to a former owner !!!
So was a good day out.......

Bugged Again - June 15th, 2003 at 09:36 PM

Starbuggy You can work on Saturday again next year as it was today Sunday.

i went, turned up late. Was disappointed by the small turnout, much more happening last year.

scored a set of kombi microbus external trim, the beginning of the Kombi adventure.

Herbie - June 15th, 2003 at 09:43 PM

I would have liked to have grabbed the pop outs, but I was too late, the hassles of working late on saturday nights, I dont get to bed till about 2 am on a sunday morning and it takes a lot to get me out of that warm cozy bed on a cold sunday morning. This morning it took My girlfriend who couldnt start the van to get me out of my warm cozy bed and I had to get up out of my warm cozy bed to walk out the front all bleary eyed and turn the key, which {as always} seems to be quite happy to start for me. its all a conspiracy I tell you. but I was happy with my big day out. got a beetle full of bits and peices from all over bribane and met some cool people as well.
Did I mention I like My warm cozy bed when its cold?:D

toplessbug - June 15th, 2003 at 10:46 PM

have been there last 3- years, and it seems to be getting smaller.I struggled to find any thing for my late beetle, though there seemed to be a lot of early beetle & kombie stuff.:beer

I left Bundy at 3 am to get there... 9 hour round trip. Didn't buy anything but it was fantastic seeing a street dominated by Volkswagens. :bounce

I was in Brisvegas for the weekend and had never been to Hardings. There may have been fewer attendees, (some locals don't know what day it is!), but Hardings is excellent. Actually I didn't know what day it was either at that stage of the weekend! ;)
Great people, lots of quality accessories, wreckers out the back with split busses in various states of dismantling, examples of work in progress. Hardings would kill it down here.
I don't know what the turnout has been like in the past but there were some nice rides there. Mine goes to the Red & White 23 window. How nice is that?
