Can people please limit the size of their images they attach to their posts. If we wish to keep it going smoothly we need to limit them.
I will be deleting images over 100kb from posts and ther server so if your images dissappers then that is where they have gone. A computer can only
display at 72DPI about 40% at JPEG format so posting 96% and 1000 x 1000 images is a watse of space .
SO if you could all save me the effort and edit your images then that would be great.
Hi Brad
You sound like you know how to use a comp prpberly. Can you tell me how to make a image smaller so that it can be posted. So far my images are to big
and I don't know how to make them smaller. Aprreciate it.
I'm pretty sure that I saw somewhere that we should keep images sizes under 1000kb, which I did. I suspect that 1000kb may have been a typo?
Anyway, delete away, I'm happy to fix them. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I have begun editing posts with big images in. Only problem is that I can't edit the image only delete the post.
Vanderaj and myself are going to sort the image size out and with some luck we will be able to get it to auto reduce.
SORRY I HATE THIS COMPUTER
I'm now using PaintShop Pro to resize my pictures from 1600x1200 (my digital camera's standard resolution, and the size I prefer to back
them up in) to a more forum-friendly 800x600. The pictures that I've actually checked have been in the 60-100kb range. I just save them as a jpeg
without playing with the compression, so whatever the default is for PSP.
vw power for me - you'll need some sort of picture editing software. Sorry I can't tell you what else will work, because I've always
used PaintShop Pro by Jasc Software.
Others include MSPaint (comes with windows & fine to get you going), Adobe Photoshop (fairly common), MS Photo Editor (real big and slow, I
wouldn't recommend it). Sorry I can't think of any others.
If you use Windows XP, you can resize the images by right clicking them.
Make a copy to preserve the originals. Right click, Resize, choose 640x480 or 800x600.
Also, Microsoft make a great little slideshow powertoy for XP:

I'm looking at writing a script to munge the images we do have. Our server has all the tools, just no scripts.

What I have done in the past to reduce the data size of an image is simple display the image on the screen at the size I want, press ctrl+Printscreen
together to save the screen image to the clipboard, open MS paint, press ctrl-v to paste the screen image and then save as a jpeg. You can also adjust
the image size in MS paint. No need for stuffing around in image processors although these are faster if you know what your doing.
I also have a temp folder that I use to save the reduced image into other wise you get pictures everywhere.

Bronze.

Lee you and I have to catch up some time. I was up near your place the other day and had forgotten again to get in touch with you before I went.
When I can I go up to Monkerai to camp on my Father in laws block. Hope to be going up again within the next two weeks. Email me if you feel like some
