I need a hug
fatboy - June 16th, 2003 at 02:36 PM

Moving house this weekend and in all the chaos went out and left the back door unlocked.

Laptop gone :(

Must have been a "grab n run" because nothing else went includeing the $1700 digital camera that was about 5 feet from the laptop.

Trying to look on the bright side - I made had to do some testing for a client on Wed of last week so I made a full backup.

It means I haven't lost any Data which could have cost mega $$$$$$ just the $4000 for the laptop, which is enough.

Now I just have to wait and see how much the insurance company rips me off.

Sorry had to vent - actually dont feel angry (or anything) thats odd.

That truly sucks!

There are no hug icons, so you can have this instead

:kiss

I thought someone had done something similar at my place last week. I couldn't find my son's trumpet - which is no real surprise - but whilst looking I realised my video camera was gone. Panicked for about a day (these were the two most expensive things in my house!), until I discovered that the boy had left the trumpet at school, and I'd put the video camera in a shoebox!

Maybe the laptop slipped down the back of the couch for a nap? That's where most things go.

{{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}} <<----- only kind currently available but still effective. There are some rotten people in the world and I'm sorry to hear you had a run in with one of them.
Just maybe (hopefully) it has just been misplaced in all the moving chaos.......

*fingers crossed for you either with finding it or with the insurance agency*

sooty - June 16th, 2003 at 06:14 PM

Shit
I'm really sorry mate.

amazer - June 16th, 2003 at 06:20 PM

I (well Mum) found one of the CD's that was stolen from my car the other week. It was in a million pieces.

karmannghia60 - June 16th, 2003 at 06:31 PM

Scum bags. Good luck and look at the bright side, you still have your VeeDub. Hug-A-Dub
I nearly had my place broken into a few months ago. As I was pulling into the driveway, I heard some noises in the backyard. The bastard just broke the window and stepped into the lounge when he heard me in the driveway. Didn't have time to grab anything. I was VERY lucky

Steve *hugs*

:jesus what is it with today?

Hope your insurance company is good and you don't get ripped off.

Miind you I've just payed my house insurance with the 5% excess due to a claim I made after my washing machine hose became disconnected last year. Mind you they were very good about getting the job done right (replacing floating floors) and plenty of follow up etc. But yeh, I've paid for it

pyr0 - June 16th, 2003 at 09:02 PM

bummer man sorry

Golde60 - June 16th, 2003 at 09:32 PM

sorry to hear that.
you can never be too careful

hope insurance works out ok

Robo - June 16th, 2003 at 09:54 PM

Dead set drop kicks man, there's nothing quite as low as a theif! nothing worse than seeing something you have worked hard for lifted by some scum!

helbus - June 16th, 2003 at 11:20 PM

I know heaps of people in rental houses that are unisured. They think that because the house doesnt belong to them they dont have to worry. You can insure the contents though.
I would be devastated enough, without having to worry about getting nothing replaced. :(

Starbug - June 16th, 2003 at 11:54 PM

*******HUGS!!******* i know what its like to get broken into, last year some monkey climbed in through our lounge window (its pretty high up!) and stole my bfs camera, my favourite bag and a pair of sunnies... BASTARDS! i hope the insurance guys are kind and dont rip you off. Lucky about the backup tho! *pheew!* have the cops done anything like prints etc?

manxed69 - June 16th, 2003 at 11:56 PM

Thieves are just parasites, I hate the bastards.

:cussing

555bug - June 17th, 2003 at 01:49 AM

you should try my security method..40kg doberman in the house, 50kg doberman outside the house :) just leave everything open and enjoy the festivities when a scum bag jumps the fence + you save on food bills for the dogs.

squizy - June 17th, 2003 at 09:21 AM

Hard luck there. I hope everything comes through ok.

Have a search through the house and check for anything else that might have gone. When I got broken into, into wasn't until a few weeks later that I noticed that other things were gone too. It was then of course, that the insurance company started to behave like jerks. I didn't get all my money from them until a year after the theft.

Squiz....

vanderaj - June 17th, 2003 at 09:37 AM

My parents have been broken into three times, once when I was living there. It really sucks...

Well, I'm glad you have backups! :) If the unsurance company pays up, time for a nice new Dell.

Cops got some good prints but!
Only a matter of time!

manxed69 - June 17th, 2003 at 10:41 PM

I think that my neighbours car just got stolen as if just drove away with its horn beeping. I'm not a big fan of this neighbour, but what a low act. I wonder if it's going to be joy rided and burnt, used for some hold ups or just cruised and dumped.

I guess it's time to keep and eye out for a while, and it's been so quiet around here lately.

zac_smits - June 17th, 2003 at 10:48 PM

i had my wallet stolen a while back and it had lots of money and souvenirs form my last overseas trip in it, so i was quite disappointed when that happened. what areas do you guys live in? Sounds like there is crime waves going on everywhere at the moment

amazer - June 18th, 2003 at 10:06 AM

I'm living in a lowlife, no class, scumbag inhabited grubville suburb of Wollongong called Warilla. Scariest thing is that nobody should want to live here but you cant buy a house here for under $250K.
