Just noticed this when driving home, spooky...

Nothing spooky about that! Just another silly superstition. See http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2245/whats-up-with-666-the-mark-of-t...

I would reckon that would be the second time around? Surely it would have already passed 99,999 after all these years. My old 40-hp went around three times. Watching 99999 change to 00000 is a funky experience! It will be a bit harder for the Golf as it is electronic, and has an extra digit.

my "second" car has averaged 12500 miles per year.

I have seen my L bug do it 4 times now (I missed the first one - it had 145,000 on it when I bought it) It is just comming up to 540,000 now - of course, this is only kilometers though. Having said that, it has done about 1/3 of that towing a trailer full of tools, and quite often building materials on top of that.
