I bet that becomes the latsets HIGH TECK modification, just like stick on Alloy fuel tank access panels, chicken wire grills, checker plate floor panels, not to mention a set of blue lights in your windscreen washer nozzles.

amazer - June 19th, 2003 at 10:52 AM

We shall try to look good, to make our cars look good, to get all mods done by others, and who cares if my grandmother could go faster up hill on a toddlers trike!!

I must be missing something:( what are we talking about?

Dasdubber - June 19th, 2003 at 11:55 AM

As long as both the exhaust and stereo are PHAT and LOUD, they are happy. I want a sticker on the back of my bug "EAT MORE RICE" or something to that effect reminiscent of the old "SORRY 'BOUT THAT" on the back gaurd of one of the US drag bugs (maybe inch pincher)? Better make sure it is fast enough before putting it on though
:)

matara - June 19th, 2003 at 06:14 PM

But its not a rice burner!!!! Its an Austin Maestro. Its a pommy car made by British Leyland. It descended from the Austin Allegro (or Austin All Agro as it was more commonly known).

They are complete sh!?boxes!!

The MG version had upright 34 webers on them suitable for a VW!!

Flintstones - June 20th, 2003 at 08:33 AM

The best one i've seen was many years ago, where some young teenager in his early model toyota corolla, sticky taped roll cage padding to the rear and side windows of his car!!
what these guys will do.....

Spook - June 20th, 2003 at 11:53 AM

It's missing the milo tin tail pipe & the wanker guages on the bonnet....

But the plastic roll cage only puts it on par with the rest of the car.

Herbie - June 20th, 2003 at 12:01 PM

I think that car is definately a sad hot up of mums car not wanting to do anything to up set her.
But I cant talk, Ive got racing stripes and numbers and wide wheels on one of the slowest cars on the road.:D:D:D:D

That barrel isnt such a bad idea actually,
It'd probably get big bass if it was tight enough.
El cheapo basso to the maxo...

Peter Leonard - June 21st, 2003 at 10:41 PM

nup jboy, too much flex in the plastic drum for decent bass. trust me.
now back to work. i have to go and buy a p trap for my passenger seat, and install a dual flush cistern outlet valve on my wastegate...:D

1303Steve - June 22nd, 2003 at 12:16 AM

Hi

I work for a large motoring organisation and get to see a few ricers broken down. I love telling them that there sports airfilters are waste of time if they are sucking in engine bay heat and are illegal as well as well as their blow off valves to atmosphere.

I went to a really late Celica the other day with all the stickers etc, it had "racing bonnet clips", I asked the guy to open the bonnet himself because i didnt want to stuff anything up on the "racing bonnet clips" I had to really bite my tounge when he opened the bonnet and I saw that the "racing bonnet clips" were only glued on the outside of the bonnet.

Really sad ricers, spend a heap of money on a monster tacho when the car already has one fitted standard.

Saw a really sad roll cage in car, made out cardboard tubes covered in tinfoil.

jboy82 - June 23rd, 2003 at 10:18 AM

Half of the 4s magazine's (no ads) riceboys are very sad, but some of them are not trying to look or be like racers but show cars and they look pretty wicked one must admit.
Cheers.

jboy82 - June 23rd, 2003 at 10:22 AM

By the way, does ricer come from the fact that many of them are asian? Eat more rice? That's me!(apart from the lame car)

Herbie - June 24th, 2003 at 01:23 AM

Rice burner ussually refers to a Japanese car, I think its ment to refer to the using rice for fuel,
And Rotarys were called chook cookers because they had an engine that resembled an old pressure cooker, My RX2 had a sticker on it that read "YES, ITS A STEGGLES", but you dont hear it so much anymore as since people have sorted out how to get a rotary to kick ass then the comment takes on a different meaning, IE if it is a chook cooker and it beats you in a race the you are the cooked chook, I reckon that was what stopped the frequent use of the term chook cooker :D
