how did we all go?

Unity-28 - June 19th, 2003 at 10:21 AM

Didnt do it!!!!!

N!

amazer - June 19th, 2003 at 10:49 AM

well I got 35. 36 if the answer to 14 was A. (missed that one). But the questions were very sucky. and tested some stupid road rules.

eg when you overtake you are only allowed to do the speed limit. So you stay on the wrong side of the road for ages overtaking that car doing 5 kays under. Thats a safe rule.... not. Shameful thing is that I have been booked for speeding while overtaking but I STILL got it wrong.

You are allowed to high beam someone if you are going to overtake them. Nice. Watch for finger as you go past.

I dont ride a bike I dont need to know how close I can get to a car.

If I'm towing my trailer I'm only allowed to park for 1 hour cos I will be over 8 metres? What difference does that make? What am I supposed to do if I want to stop for more than 1 hour?

I cant convert km/hour into metres per second in my head.

I got to admit that I only got 1 or 2 of the parking/stopping questions right. I own the road and I'll park where I want to park!... Sir... err thanks.

Shani - June 19th, 2003 at 10:53 AM

Had to work/ didn't do it.

amazer - June 19th, 2003 at 11:00 AM

you can do it online at http://www.ninemsn.com.au/testaustralia
But it is extremely slow. You'll need plenty of time. Well over an hour.

Da Wiz - June 19th, 2003 at 11:45 AM

Well i thought it was crap ... some of the signs they asked about we don't even have or use here in WA ... they aren't even in our Learners books ... like that stop sign with the shotgun holes down the centre or the T2 on freeways ... c'mon ... WTF ... if it was national .. that fuddy in the corner with glasses could have at least checked it was N-A-T-I-O-N-A-L ... not just for you poor footballers in the Vic state hahaha or Sydney siders ...
:puke :puke

The thing is - it couldn't register common sense ... but the over65's came where they ought to ... LAST HAHAHA

:bounce

Baja Wes - June 19th, 2003 at 12:09 PM

I got 38. Since we don't have stop signs with 3 bullets holes in them in QLD I thought some Q's were NSW / VIC specific.

I also think it sucks that you get penalised for being overly safe, like giving way to a bus that's changing lanes (your not supposed to?!?!).

Just shows how crap our road rules are.

amazer - June 19th, 2003 at 01:21 PM

I lost a point for stopping for a pedestrian when I only had to give way.

And lost a point for immediately changing lanes when I found myself going under the red X. I'd like to see the look on a cops face when I tell him I couldnt drive on the left side of the road cos it was unsafe to change lanes, too much traffic.

pyr0 - June 19th, 2003 at 01:58 PM

ppl come on that thing went for like 3 hours i cant believe u sat there and did it the whole time :alien

Baja Wes - June 19th, 2003 at 02:03 PM

actually I was in the shed, resetting my rear torsion bars, with the TV on, and my girlfriend writing down my answers. So I wasn't exactly concentrating on it :D

BenettonVW - June 19th, 2003 at 07:57 PM

Well I turned over a little late, so only answered 53 questions, but I got 36.

jenz58 - June 19th, 2003 at 08:05 PM

I read in the MX 'free' nespaper that they/Nine got 3 of the questions wrong themselves.

The roundabout question answer is-give way to the vehicle on the right or anyother vehicle already in the roundabout.

On another they had a truck or something doing an illegal turn (which was not their intention)

Maybe you go 100.something% right:D

I didn't do it either. Don't watch much telly

Stanley - June 19th, 2003 at 08:11 PM

Who really cares just more mind numbing crap that takes us away from family and volkswagens:D

fish - June 19th, 2003 at 08:53 PM

got 31 right. but who won the bloody holden ?? Eddie !!!:alien

vanderaj - June 19th, 2003 at 11:02 PM

Actually, Jen, the truck turn was absolutely 100% legal. They're allowed to do that.

Some of the questions were supposed to be safety related. So I answered some of them how a defensive driving person would answer them, not by the book.

The one on the headllights - I don't think they should have asked that one. So many more questions that are useful to know, but they didn't ask. Like "After cutting off a taxi driver for being a complete prick earlier, the dude drives aggressively up to your car and waves what looks like a gun, what do you do?

a) return fire
b) accelerate madly
c) run into him"

I got 37. I mostly fell down in the parking ones (2/6 questions right) - I gave everyone too much room. Doesn't matter around here anyway - all parking bays are marked. Don't need to think.

OR you are heading south in the left hand lane of The Grand Pde and you want to turn right. do you
a) wait for some kind person to let you in (in sydney????)
b) stay in the left lane waiting for a break in traffic which hopefully appears before you reach melbourne?
c) put your indicator on and just move over, knowing that one look at the side of your battle scarred kombi they will get the hell out of your way.

The truck can turn from the next lane out to turn left if it displays(as it should to be registered) the appropriate signs on its rear... if you have a look at that Q the car was shown as going straight ahead in a left hand turning lane.

Peter Leonard - June 21st, 2003 at 10:17 PM

i flipped on and freaked out when i saw taxi drivers had the best score at that point. i got confused and, shamefully, ran for my life. I still feel unwholesome from that :puke

vanderaj, i'll take A, B and C.
:D
