Dubs By the pie 2010.
Mrs Oz Towdster - May 26th, 2009 at 10:03 PM

Bad Little Bug-gers are looking at changing the date for Dubs, this is because of the weather. We would like feed back asap to make a decision. Do we keep the show in February or change it for March April or May. If we can also get feed back from as sponsers as well.

Mrs Oz Towdster - May 26th, 2009 at 10:06 PM

I personally myself would keep it the date it is as sometime changers are no good and everyone knows the date by heart. Although changing from the pub to the pie was good.

always known as the 'love ya bug' cruise, so valentines day is etched into my heart..
why are blb looking to change the date?
seems to work out - right?

Having it in Feb helps to spread the shows htrough the year doesn't it?
Feb is also what everyone is used to I guess.

Wag67 - May 27th, 2009 at 04:32 AM

Only problem with being held in February is the heat sometimes but that is what you get for living in Qld but everyone knows it is in February so I say leave it as is

vw54 - May 27th, 2009 at 06:27 AM

yeah leave it in Feb

Craig is possibly moving the date of Portland Drags to attract more Vics and to have a few weeks in between going to Brissy then Victoria have a chat with Craig

February is also Queensland's wet season as well as being VERY hot - simply changing the date by a matter of a few weeks can make all the difference.
the last thing anybody wants is park their pride and joy on grassed area that is all muddy - because, yes, with the high turnout, the grassy areas will need to be utilised to accommodate ALL the cars in the future. With the bigger turnout and rise in popularity, the date becomes less significant and people's comfort becomes more important.

If you "need" to move it for a reason then do so..... if not leave it as it is.

ang3lsholocaust - May 27th, 2009 at 06:03 PM

I think you should leave it as Feb. Everyone knows Dubs is on in Feb and the fact about the weather, you can't accomodate for the weather. It's mother nature if it's going to rain it's going to rain, if it's going to be stinking hot then it's going to be hot. You can't please everyone.

stevosky - May 27th, 2009 at 06:28 PM

Change it

Baja Wes - May 27th, 2009 at 09:12 PM

It's QLD, we have random hot days and storms up to May (look at the recent flooding).

I say we just need a location that can handle the heat. A grass field is cooler to walk through than a bitumen car park. Near the ocean would also be cooler than inland.

alien8 - May 27th, 2009 at 09:28 PM

Does not matter when it is. The event is bigger than the date. If it was at midnight in the middle of Antarctica, I'd still go.

x2

I started this as a club cruise for the Qld Flat 4er's way back before Bad Buggers took over. Wouldn't be the same if the date was changed.

if it aint broke dont fix it imo
as / my original question above
why are blb looking to change the date?
reasons are...?
it seems strange to put this thread up without the theory or relevance as to ask why?

vassy66T1 - May 28th, 2009 at 09:08 AM

Don't make us wait any further into the year for a decent VW show. February is good!

Maybe change the thread to a poll so you can get a vote Eileen?

Mrs Oz Towdster - May 29th, 2009 at 05:12 PM

h this thread was put here because a couple of members thought it would be good to change because of the weather and location. It always seems to rain the week before dubs and with the club wanting to use the whole of the Humbile pie next year they are wondering if it rains all the grass area will be hard for cars to get onto and cause some problems. We can not control weather so what do we do and we always have the complaints that it is always hot. But that is our show for you. Eileen.
How do I change this into a poll so I can keep count for who wants to keep in February and who wants it changed for another date.

h - May 29th, 2009 at 06:17 PM

thanks for the info, as you can read many peeps think it is fine the date as it is
i found it funny to change something that is indelled into peeps brains that in feb - dubs is a given.. thats all..
quote 'a couple of members thought... ...because of the weather and location.' ??
well funny that the weather does what it does without having any forward planning approval given..
hmmm (go figure - illogical imo)
however the location bit has some merit now with only limited hard stand area + the grass area as opposed to ettamogah pub..
our club vwdcq has for a long time mostly held the action on grass.. so it seems to work out when wet or dry..
im trying to undersatnd as to what the bottom line reasons are here for me to have a change of thought for support
however i cant find anything reasonable to make me forsee a change imo
a poll thingy maybe a good option but you know with stats they can be twisted about to suit ones agenda..
thanks Eileen for putting this out in the vw arena for feedback as a blatant change without warning could have ill effects..
here is a suggestion - at the next dubs cruise/show why not put on the judging ticket a question or two about the subject you have brought up and get the feed back from the people on the day then look to/for suitable outcomes that may fit in with the target market..?
cheers
