I went on a trip at the begining of this year and had a bit of time on my hands so I did a CG version of what I plan on building with one of the VW I
have.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdUFmrTzOlg
Wow! Wish I could make 1 of my car
what software do you use.
3ds max9, I've got the complete car but I changed it to build a vollksrod.
I'd love to able to use it to show colour schemes and different wheels and any custom ideas that people may have.

Nice looking bug Glen, looking forward to seeing the finish product
3DS MAX(9 i have never used it but can you output files in dfferant formats to suit other cad packages. i am guess this is 3d Solid model.
Hey Bill just started her with that pan you gave me when I picked up Wilson, that and the body I got off you should be a good start.
Oh and it looks like I may have picked up that 58 that was going around my area, now I've got Wilson and it to restore.
I've also got a copy of the complete Bugme video series incase your interested in a copy.

I'd love to get a copy of your model. I use Solid Edge but I am sure it could be converted over using one of the native formats. I would be more than
happy to host the files on my website and credit you with supplying it.
At work we had one of our 3D models turned into a real model, using a 3D printer. It was pretty cool. You could do the same with your rod, but it is
pricey.
If you send me the file I can also convert it to a 3D pdf for you, then everyone can view the 3D model in normal Adobe Reader.
I have a good size decal on a file with a black background. I really really really want to change background to white. Anyone know how? Or better still could do it for me.
email it to me - will pm details
I can help as well.
What format do you want the 3d file in, I'll see what I can export or convert it into.
I'd love to use the model to help members out with ideas or colors or even wheel choices, I've always thought it would be usfull to have a 3d image
or movie to help show others what you have in mind for any customization or changes that anyone may have in mind.
try sending the 3DS file, then convert to normal generic files, parasolid (.x_t), acis (.sat), iges (.igs) are some of the normal ones.
wild ride man!
I can't believe they are already up to 3dsMax 9
I still remember using the old Kinetix 3ds Max 2 back in the day
Thanks Baja I have posted file to you. Thanks also Glen, its not actually a 3d file just a file I want to change background colour on for a paint project. I say just lol I have no idea at all how to do it tho.
kombivw - That is a really tough one as the outlines are the same colour as the background, so removing the background removes a lot of the outlines.
I had to retouch it a lot. You could spend hours trying to get it perfect if you get bored. A free paint program like paint.net will work well. http://www.getpaint.net/index.html
Anyone, I have attached my white background version. I tried to make the blue, red and green constant colours rather than the blotchy pattern from the
scanned image. Before and after versions attached. I have also emailed the full size version of the white one.
I have to say you done a really great job Baja. its just what i was after. Many many many thanks
thread from the dead.... On a slightly similar note, I've got a low quality jpg with a white background. How hard is it to make it into a gif with a transparent background?
simple
The problem with that one is the anti-aliasing. If the background you put it on isn't white, then you want to remove almost all of it when you make
the transparency. This makes it look worse than the original. Changing the background colour would give a better result.
I just use the free paint.net program.
Thanks Wes. Paint.net. I'll give it a go.
