a vw parts shop that returns emails?
sgetty - June 2nd, 2009 at 04:43 PM

hey all
just wondering if any one has any luck getting a reply from any parts shops, i have only ever had luck with one shop but they specialise in bus stuff, im after bug stuff and its easy with email because i can do it at work.
Would be nice if i could tell them what i want, charge my card, send me the gear, easy. We have email at work and we are a retail nursery and i dont have to listen to general chick chat for a stock enquiery, its great.
Any one had any luck?

Just call the guys at vintage vee dub Ph# (02) 9789-1777 and tell them what you want and they will charge your credit card and post most things overnight. And you know it will be the correct part.

Mick emails me back. just be clear on what you want. I find parts from classic better. just be really specific and list exactly what you want. (eg - wanted a fuel pump and definatly the pushrod.... didnt get the pushrod but got 2 sets of gaskets...- be clear and double check ) :)

eraser - June 2nd, 2009 at 08:34 PM

I have asked classic repeated times for parts from several different email addresses i just never get a reply, perhaps replying to the specials emails is not the way to go. But when i call they are more then happy to spend their time talking to me, but 1 year later and i still havent got my T-bumper things (the things that go on instead of bumpers) i have spoken to them a few times but nothing. But the helpfulllness outstrips the tiny issues i have had.

I've been using Mick and Christine for over 10 years to get parts.. at first I just ordered what i wanted... and they sent the parts and I paid for them by bank debit when I got their parts and the invoice..

but these days I ask the total and direct debit into their bank account..
they also do answer emails....
but You can't ask the price of something and not give all the details etc...

Stokers siding Garage also answer emails...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It probably depends a lot on how busy they [?] are when they receive an email..
if its about a $10 part and they are serving someone or packing up a $100 order.... the $10 email will wait...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do agree many do not answer emails...
probably especially if You haven't dealt with them before??
thats a wild guess...

ALL Sellers on e-bay do respond to emails....

most sellers prefer you to ring as they often need to ask other questions to make sure you get the right part

that sounds strange to Me...
unless the part was an empi part..
I've been buying parts for over 10 years
[long before George was on the scene]
and never had any problems...
I have bought from many shops though in QLD NSW VIC

I have found them the worst all round shop. but they are local and good for general stuff that i need. However, I dont find them informative on large items at all. they just love your cash and dont really think about what you need. Thats my fault for being miss informed though hey.

they must be doing something right to be in business for so many years
i have never heard of anyone who would talk up classic and talk down micks !
if you don't know what you want then how is mick to know?

Surely a good auto parts supplier should be able to tell the customer what fits with what, the pro's and con's of certain products and whether they fit your aplication etc etc etc.

colonel mustard - June 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 PM

^^^^ thats what im talking about.... like i would think a supplier would tell me the exhaust im interested in is too big for my 1600... but no, i buy it and its far too big, has no back pressure ect ect. im not angry or anything, its just a bit lame when you buy something thats wrong, but you asked advice and the product wasnt that great. I much rather classic, cause i can see what the product is, the price (sometimes) go research it on the company that makes it' website and see if its what i need. then it gets sent to my door within a few days, the money comes out, and I havent waited on the phone for 2 hours and not gotten any info. (micks...) micks is good for some stuff, but classic is A+ in my opinion. :)

trickysimon - June 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 PM

Umm what exhaust did you buy that was too big?

colonel mustard - June 3rd, 2009 at 11:16 PM

Its a long story....... and It was my fault.
I got an empi (ewwwwww) full merged, crazy size (3-3/8ths???)
that was just too big for a 1600 - I was stupid and had no idea, but wasnt advised that it was way too big,
when i said it was a 1600 and anyone else would have said get this (something else) instead.

In short, thunderbird for the win.

just the reason why i also prefer to just call, its quicker and easier. jump on the net, find out what u think u want/need, make a list, then during your lunch break give em a quick call, confirm its all right parts u require and order there and then, really easy. 3 main places i use (other than ebay) are CBB (02) 4722 9313, Vintage VeeDub (02) 9789 1777 and Classic VeeDub (02) 9638 4200.

sgetty - June 4th, 2009 at 11:37 AM
