944 gearbox???

Mick,

I believe 944 were a front mounted engine with normal gearbox, not trans axle in the rear.

ha! yeh, i know that - sorry - not thinking - flat chat and someone was selling one - didn't think.

i know they were generally gutless too. Didn't mind the shape though. I thought 944, trailing arms, brakes etc - gbox - :td:

Yeah, 944 were front engined all right but had the transaxle in the back with a torque tube between them, CV and drive shafts going out to what was basically VW Type 1 IRS suspension.

As to fitting one in a bug, well I'm pretty sure they're mounted round the opposite way, like what you have with a mid-engined setup.
