Nick's Burgers Pre Classic pics (USA)
Dasdubber - June 20th, 2009 at 05:42 PM

Leading up the VW Classic weekend in LA, every year on the Friday night there is a huge informal get together at Nick's Burgers in Fullerton. This year it was absolutely jam packed, even the big car park across the road was getting close to capacity. Here is a selection of pics.

Got to meet Dyno Don Chamberlin whilst at the event - he 'kindly' announced to everyone at the top of his voice (which is blood loud for anyone who has met him) that "Al from Australia is here everyone, lets everyone welcome him!!"...I went pretty red after this photo!

Gee Al this has got to be the best thread of ride pics I've seen in a long time. Then to meet Dyno on top of that must cap it all off for you. :tu:

Was a good trip squizy - have wanted to do it for years and was well worth the wait.

Met a heap of guys you normally read about in the mags including Dyno Don, Charlie Hamill (amazing type 2 collection), Chip Foose (at his shop), and all the racers including Roger Crawford, Shawn Geers, Jack Sachette, Pat Downs, Muffler Mike, Pat McDermott, Richie Webb and many many more. I just made the effort to introduce myself to as many people as I could - some people didn't want to know you (but that is the same as anywhere in the world), but on the whole people took the time to have a chat and were really friendly.

Some amazing cars over there and some very big budgets - one of the beetles was close to US$200K for the resto (was speaking to the engine builder) - will keep it quiet which car though as it was mentioned to me in confidence. Crazy.

AL

Glad you had a great time Alan.
Thanks for finding the time to share all the pics and stories,
when you could have been sleeping, or looking at Volksies.

Seems like you hae been away for months!

I always find it amazing how some thins that were "not cool" in the past,
are cool now cause they are expensive to buy.
The original Mag BRM was a poor seller back in the empi days...now look how popular they are.

Now I m glad I kept my skivy and flared jeans.
