Wow. This is not Wolfsburg, it is another VW in the former East Germany, at Dresden. It was built especially to make VW's large sedan, the Phaeton. It opened in 2002.

The factory is called the 'Glass Factory' or the 'Transparent Factory' (Glaserne Manufaktur). It's really only a final assembly point, as the heavy foundry work, welding and machining is done in nearby Zwickau.
