depending on how you drive and what dual carbs you are considering dual carbs might improve mileage, but driven hard expect an empty tank

You can expect better fuel economy when the car is driven normally...
over a single carburetor...

Around the suburbs, our 68 standard engine/carb gets about 12l/100km. On the open road it gets about 10l/100km. This is driving in a reasonably quick manner. I tend not to speed but get up to the speed limit pretty quickly so if you are not as heavy footed from the lights, it should be better. Dual carbs would probably be better fuel consumption as well.

Yogie, that's terrible economy. Around the suburbs my Baja is about 10L/100km with the V6 or the 1916cc VW engine (both got similar economy but the V6 probably gets the boot put into it more).

I had an Lbug with a 1776, if driven gently I reckon around the 7L/100km mark.

I get around 8-9l/100km in my stock 1600 with single carb. This is usually a mix of peak hour( if you can call it that) and cruising around on the weekend

my stock 1600 with extractors used to average 9L/100
and got down to 7.5L at 100KM/h on the highway

the original australian roadtest from 72 had the average at 25.6mpg which is 9.2L/100

After reading your response, I checked again and it looks like I made an error. We would get about 320kms out of our tank which works out at about 8.8l/100kms around town. Makes a bit of a difference.

My 1776 with twin dells got about 10L/100km when driven hard on the highway. Around town it was a bit worse. But i used to really give it some stick.

The new 2L..... don't want to know, but 48idas and 7k Plus revs isn't good for fuel consumption.

I think about 20 litres lasted about 20 laps at wakefield park raceway...

With my work trailer on (builders trailer - about 3/4 of a ton I am guessing), my 1916 L bug with Kadrons uses up around 20 L per 100 if I get in angry around town. If I drive carefully (read boring), it is much better.
