it looks like a Ferrari but not
i can remember these i think they were a pommy kit and not many were used in aust early 60's look great
is that a volvo in the background the p series
If memory serves me well, I think that someone in Australia did something similar.
I think it was called a Broadspeed.
Is that so?
yes/no Broadspeed was English but also made in Australia by Brian Foley, basically a Mini Fastback with a fibreglass roof rather than a complete
rework like the Mini Marcos.
there was also the Mini Monaco built by Bill Buckle, again the major change being a rework of the roof
Looks like a mini marcos to me.
Hmmmm.................eye of the beholder me thinks
Got to admit - the old Bill Buckle really had his hand in motoring
these minis
Goggomobils
midget stock car racing
Any thing else he got up to??

One of my customers who has a swag of mini's has a Buckle being rebuilt at the moment ,the body is finished and he is starting to reassemble it.You are right about Bill Buckle though he was way ahead of his time.
SWEEEEEEEET.
And did that used to be a Volvo 1800PE in the background of the first two shots?
its weird looking yet somehow it works well. Never seen any of them in oz!
68autobug,,, if , by chance< you can find that fella who you think may have had a Marcos, could you see if you can find him again? I`d be very keen
to talk with him,,, there was only meant to be 2x of these brought into the country & sold under licence from Marco , through a company called
"Competiton cars" in sydney,,, if , maybe,,, hope to be, the guy ho owned ours before we got it, then i`d dearly love to get a copy of the old rego
papers , or at least chase the rego number
Hey Grumble,,, if you could swing your mate with the Buckle Monaco my ph number (or ask him for his) i`m keen to hook up with him,,, i also have a
buckle :-) .... & the black one with the gold stripes is owned by John Centrone, we hope to be able to get them all together (or at least find
them all) one day :-)
& the green with the yellow stripe is actually called a "Jem" , very similar to the marcos but not the same.
thanks heaps for all your intrest guys,,, i know it`s not Vee-dub but maybe (for some strange reason) there might be a rerasonable outcome from
posting it here
thanks heaps
Edit--> Oh & , as it happens,,, Bill Buckle was really good mates with my Grandad from "Speedy Welding in sydney,,, we have a very funny story
of how the Monaco fastback mini actually came about :-)
& i personally think the Monaco has a much better line/shape than the Broadspeed
