thats mike walrons old car, tail lights were immediately removed after the taking of that picture
. but if you do choose to get them,
they are available from most larger vw parts suppliers like cbb, vintage (as per rear window sticker) and classic veedub.... cheers adam:
sander288 - July 16th, 2009 at 05:46 PM
I got mine from classic veedub, they are really good especially at night, just make sure you have organe indicator globes and red brakelights , I run
led brake/taillights

vwsteve - July 16th, 2009 at 06:58 PM
ive never seen red globes for brakes, can you get them?
Joel - July 16th, 2009 at 07:12 PM
ive had them on mine since valla 08
got thro this years pinky with no dramas
i run LEDs though which have very bright and defined amber and red
the coloured covers for the stock bulbs they came with were pretty pathetic and stood out like dogs balls through them

ian.mezz - July 16th, 2009 at 10:27 PM
you will get a defect
as your tail light should have a red
reflector in them

You might get off as the car in question is pre ADR. I may be wrong....
Joel - July 16th, 2009 at 10:52 PM
the clear ones with the red reflectors look like ass
besides they got white reflectors and the red strip in my bumpers is reflective
i think mine being 74 is first year of the ADR
altho its a 75 according to VW

StenGuns - July 17th, 2009 at 10:08 AM
You can use them as long as you have 2 or more reflective units on the rear.. eg reflective discs.. I carry reflective tape in the glove box just in
case..

Rule 106
106.02
reason for rejection
reflectors are damaged, or are not fitted to rear of the vehicle.
so if your tail lights are the reflectors and you change them to all clear they could only comply if they meet the ADRs.

Honestly who really cares about ADR's .Build it how you want it I say.
If you get a defect fix it get the defect lifted then put it back the way it was and keep driving your machine the way you like it.

Pastit - July 19th, 2009 at 08:35 AM
Don't you have to run those neon lights underneath with the Albino look tail lights?

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but most new cars these days are coming out with them anyway. Since when does Clear Tail lights mean Ricer,
sometimes the clear and the smoked look better against certain colours. Our Grey Lowlight had smoked tail lights and it look 100% better than
standards.

Couldn't have said it better!
newghia - July 19th, 2009 at 05:11 PM
I run full red lenses on the ghia with LED globes & the amber shows through without any probs,
Yeah i know its not legal, but i like the look a whole lot more & the amount of time i actually get to drive the thing, i'm willing to cop a
defect cause even that wont wipe the smile off my face !!!!
Also running black tinted perspex lenses with the same globes on the Razor !!
Pretty sure you can also buy clear LED globes that illuminate to red or amber from the states
Noddy.
ian.mezz - July 19th, 2009 at 06:53 PM
I am happy for those people who want to ricer up their cars.
sure some cars look better
I am also happy to take peoples 50 bucks to clear a Defect if they are unlucky and they get one
MISS VDUB - July 19th, 2009 at 10:30 PM
Do you pocket the money Ian?
You can stay there in NSW where the laws are getting suckier... you'd be loving it now.
StenGuns - July 20th, 2009 at 10:18 AM
