they do lo0k better in dark colours...

Porsche like at the rear....
Not sure what the front was supposed to look like...
but Porshe's didn't have TORANA square headlamps... lol

luckily it didn't have TORANA tail lamps... lol

number plate lamps spoil it.... IMHO...

2 x BMC [Mini Minor-Major-Lancer-mini K-1100 1500]

Yogie - July 20th, 2009 at 05:54 PM

Back in the eighties, as a teenager, I would have loved this car. Maybe even now some people would still look on it favourably but I have passed that point these days. Would probably look better in another colour though and it just shows how we all have different ways we love our VWs.

Seen worse things

At least the wheels fill the guards to a fair extent

With headlamps that far back...
Low beam would be in front of the headlamps... lol

Probably Laws about headlamps that far back these days
???

POP up headlamps at the front would have been better...

at least it doesn't have a beetle flat windscreen..lol

GH sigma ;)
i think someone was watching to much back to the future
i bet it has a 1.1 gigawatt flux capacitor

poragas were the big thing in the 80s
they were sposed to look liek a 930 slant nose
not many left these days though, the bug body underneath rotted out as most were coastal cars and you couldnt tell till it was to late

just unusual to see one with something bigger than a single port in it

sinecure - July 20th, 2009 at 09:15 PM

I always wanted the hardtop Porrera. Creative Cars built these.

As for the other pic... OK, so even I don't like it, but I think the front has been butchered and maybe if you just... No, I give in.

But, from my favourite accessories site:

http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&produc...

The lowering kit, boost bar and cross-drilled brake lines are a must for any serious enthusiast

karmannghia60 - July 21st, 2009 at 08:33 AM

Lee, those weren't Torana tail light. They were made specially for the Poraga kit which was supposed to resemble slant nose 911, including the front
Whoever drivers this car must have a strong pinky :)

I never understand what people hate about the Beetle shape that makes them want to change it?
Personally i can't understand the whole baja thing either, but it's each to their own i guess.:D

shaihulud - July 21st, 2009 at 11:29 AM

I have never liked the Poraga style body kits.

If the red gull wing car was cut short just in front of the headlights, it could become a short, possibly cute little car, especially if it has a short Kamm type tail. It could sort of have, the stubby, cute look of the Honda CRX.

Stress the coulds and possibly.

Bajas on the other hand, I find attractive. They're like that for a definite offroad purpose and because form follows function, they appeal to me.

look like sigma head lights to me

also im still trying to figure out why someone would do something like this, but i guess at the time it seemed like a great idea to him/her....... whatever floats your boat i guess, i just hope they didnt chop up a good solid body to create that thing....

Joel - July 22nd, 2009 at 08:14 PM

with how long ago that thing would have been built what do you think?

most kit cars 20 years ago started with solid bugs.
they were a dime a dozen and cheap back then
it was easier to buy a solid car to start with than replace rusty floors

RED62E - July 22nd, 2009 at 09:38 PM

Individuality, gotta love it. How boring otherwise.

dAVo - July 22nd, 2009 at 10:05 PM

For some reason I don't really mind it at all. Looks like it's finished off a lot better than the others I see. Still wouldn't own it though lol

helbus - July 22nd, 2009 at 11:54 PM

It is still cheaper to cut up good cars than rusty cars. I will only chop, customise, or modify original untouched non rusty one owner cars.

I would have no problems in seeing a 1952 Beetle with original paint done up Baja style with a stoking hot late twin port engine fitted.

Is that a car or a shovel? Is the broom a factory option?
