Hi
Great find, I spent many weekends going up to Catalina to watch, we always used to watch from above the water splash.
Later in life I went on to work with Chris Heyer who drove the Provincial Motors car.

What a top pic on the cover of racing Car news
Brings back memories of Kempsey mud scrambles in the late 60's,we ran our 36hp beetle with tractor type tyres on the front and mud grabbers on the rear against the v8 fords and chevvies. From memory there was no scrutineering of value, if it went it was a goer,no safety gear, seat belts or whatever, but we had a ball. Different driver every run, just hold it flat point it and hang on,most times we finished with no tow.Best of all we towed the trailer up from Taree with the Killabakh school bus -a split screen kombi with 36 big hp and all of them working overtime.
This series used to be broadcast on Channel 7 in Sydney, which was fairly unusual. I once wrote to Channel 7 to ask if they still had video of the series, but I never got a reply. They probably still do, somewhere in their archives. Will Hagon has recently put out some DVDs of old '70s motor racing at Warwick Farm etc, so he may be worth contacting.
