Rusty Beetle body wanted
amanda_wa - July 23rd, 2009 at 03:08 PM

Does anyone have a rusty Beetle body for sale or adoption that's too far gone for restoration? Don't mind how corroded or what year but not too dented because it's the shape that matters.

I guarantee it will go too a good home to be immortalised in a series of paintings. So far I've been working from photos thanks to some helpful formites (many, many thanks) but really need to get more angles, closeups etc.

I'm located in Chittering which is 45 minutes NE of Midland in WA and hoping to not have to travel too far. Pointers to wrecking yards who might have something like that (not too expensive) appreciated too just in case).

Hi there,

Nothing in the series is finished enough to show yet. Three are begun and at various stages of the ugly that they all go through before they're done. I promise I'll post some photos as soon as I can - the exhibition is on the 9th October (at the Turner Gallery) so they'll absolutely have to be finished before then! That's a scary thought... cos these are oil paintings - they're sitting in front of blowers trying to get them dry enough for the next layer of paint.

This may be worth a try.

Call Peter Arnoldi on 9328 6466.

He has temporarily closed his VW business in 21 Eden Street, West Perth, but there are several unregistered cars in the yard beside the workshop.

That business number might not work, but there can't be many P Arnoldis in the phone book if you need his home number.

Amanda I have a very rusty beetle but I think it is too far away,by the time you got it to WA you could probably put it in a cardboard box excepting the glass which would fall out of the rubbers. If you like I will send a couple of pics if it doesn't collapse with the flash. Good luck with your paintings. Cheers les.
