Now i have posted this on my bloggy thingo but i thought i would post here and give everyone a laugh.
So last week I saw a thread by SpLiTmEiStEr about an oval motor he wanted gone for $50.
He lives literally under 15 mins away so off i drove with my Celica to pick this motor up. Get there swap cash for motor and have him help me load it
into my car, i remember thinking this is heavier then i remember.
Get it home and then realise there is no way in hell I’m going to get that out of the car myself (even borrowed an engine hoist which wouldn't
fit), and after calling a few friends and everyone being conveniently busy i decided to tear her down in the back of the car... i know crazy
right).
So this is after about 2 hours i got to this stage (i can see you going 2 hrs you wimp, but i had to grind my socket so i could get to the head stud
nuts.)
Finally got the strength to pick the motor in pieces out of the car… it now looks like this…
So lesson learnt think about how to get it out of the car before putting it in… Or invite friends over before and surprise it on them.
+1 AVD warm & fuzzy

OMG!

I got photos of mine in the passenger seat area from today.. took the seat out. the boot had all my tools...
gotta luv those celica utes mate :P
tradies dream in a sports car
ah yes the rear engined vw powered celica
abit like the rear engined vw festiva i used to have
Haha, your halfway through the tear down... few hundre bucks, and some polishing and you'll be richer for it!
Joel, you have a photo for everything, And I totally Love it!
ex photography student, my cameras usually by my side
Ah. You're a pro dude. i just use an iphone camera... hahaha
i always think its funny when you most need people to give you a lift they seem to have something else on , and a vw motor is a lot lighter than some motors we have lifted out of trailers or car boots
i dont have a photo and its not a vw engine, but picture this, a holden 186 red straight six, fully complete with dissy, carby etc out of the boot in a statesman, even with 3 mates and a carton of beer to convince them we struggled with it for about an hour. ohh and ad a statesman boot seal to the list of expenses.
