Yay. Fitting eyelids is such an enjoyable task, everyone should do it. if you already have them, remove them and fit them again.

I'm going to see if adding beer helps.

What's the problem? Mine are ok to take off and put on.

he probably owns a car with 12 volt upright headlights
thats the joys of parts made in taiwan

helbus - August 12th, 2009 at 09:43 PM

Mmmmmm The cheap crap ones on our 1302 cracked the headlight lens. I am tossing up whether to toss them.

stilson - August 12th, 2009 at 09:53 PM

ah joel you are correct. the lips seem to foul the surround so ive bent them and they seem better but still a long way off. Theres only about 1/2mm clearance around the lense without the eylids and the eyelids are almaos 1mm thick. I need some kind words of encouragement or I may jump up and down on them.

I'm considering grinding off most of the lip and leaving 3 little tabs as mentioned in an earlier thread.
any thoughts?

hmmm im perplexed that you havem't rolled out the old 45 here dave...
your losing your golden touch there young fella since your last os trip away to lala land

for the eyelids - beer and bourbon can fix almost anything too coupled with a fbh

polak - August 13th, 2009 at 12:55 PM

i bought the el cheapo ones and after 3 hrs, 2 beers and another 4 bourbons i got them on to fit perfect.... only issue was that later they would get surface rust unless i polished them every 3 weeks.... i purchased some stainless steel ones, but never fitted them as i have since decided to do away with them. i changed the look/style of my car so they wouldnt suit now anyway.

the garden variety eyebrows out there were never actually made to fit 12 volt style headlights which is why they fit so badly

you can get proper 12 volt ones that fit right and dont cover up half the headlight lense but hardly anywhere seems to sell them
