Hi guys, i thought i might share a little something...
I had a few days annual leave, began to miss a sence of achievement i usually get by fixing someones F*** up at work & the enjoyment from talking
about random shit with the older guys, so anyway 5mins into getting back to work in an awesome mood, the typical meeting about work politics red tape
& personal agendas arose, mind you i came in early for this meeting, kinda kills the interest in the job, so my question to you all is, do you
have a job you like & how the hell did you get it?
Im tiring of the senseless crap that goes on here (government job i should probably add)
about the only good bit is the fairly secure employment & interesting characters i work with. but the security is coming to a close at the end of
the year,
the other query is, does anyone have a need for a vehicle builder that needs decent $$$ & loves dubs?
feel free to reply with the "tell him hes dreaming" line regarding a job thats enjoyable
jousting sticks are still available in the trading post
Hi
Ive been in the same job since 1986, I do road service for the NRMA, I can honestly say I love it, I'm on the road all day being a good Samaritan and
getting paid for it, you get the odd wanker that has a go at you, the only thing I don't like about the job is sometimes the management will bring a
great new idea, the same one that was tried a few years earlier.
I keep my nose clean so I rarely see management or anywhere with roof, I get out of the work ute every day and turn off work and turn on to being at
home with my family and bugs.
I sometimes have nightmares thinking I'm back at a previous job, its great to wake up and realise I don't work there anymore.
Steve
Im food and beverage manager at a local venue. ive been in hospitality for 6 years, Cocktails mainly but took this job for the money. Although not a
bar i would choose to work it its now my bar. and i get to do with it as i please. and i still get to enter cocktail comps and enjoy the kickbacks
from liquor reps and such.
i love my job
H - the jousting stick would need to be pretty long, the problems arise when the guy making decisions is non existant everytime it comes to explaining
a "new" idea / way of doing things
Steve - sounds like the management you have is alot like ours, one wonders where logic & common sense has gone...
with the nrma thing i can imagine just about everyone you helped would be appreciative too
what do people have a go at you for? i cant picture a reason for it thats all
Hi
The only reason they get upset usually is if they feel that they have waited too long, that doesn't happen very often.
A very small number get upset if the problem cant be fixed at the side of the road and they need towing, but we average about 92-93% go rate, so about
7-8% need towing.
Steve
NRMA
No Real Mechanics Available,
Ha! I did my apprenticeship with them back in the seventies, doing fleet maintenance at road service headquarters at Villawood.
These days I work as a disability support worker, supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live to their capabilities in a group home
setting. It's great, you get paid just to be "yourself".
Regards,
Matt.

If I could just do my job on my own I reckon I'd love it. But when you get knocked back on a request for more RAM while 3 people in the HR department
walk around every day pumping black balloons full of helium to highlight our CO2 emissions, it gets on your nerves a little. Actually its not HR
department, its the Environmental Sustainability Team which is made up of mostly HR. Oh and I last moved desk 3 weeks ago tomorrow, but will be moving
again in 2 weeks almost back to where I started 3 years ago. You know what they say, if you're short on ideas, just relocate the furniture.
Its hard to do at times but if the job itself is good, you just have to disregard the bullshit that goes on around you. I do have the occasional rage
against the machine, but most of the time the best course of action is to shrug your shoulders and go with the flow. Sure I'll move back to the other
building and back to where I used to sit before you decided it would be better for me here, only a few weeks ago. Thats 4 hours lost productivity but
I'm on salary.
This is better than freezing my arse off in winter, cooking in summer in the steelworks where I used to be. Better than working for a Kennards style
hire company and being ripped off by the boss. Better than a call centre and being abused for 8 hours on $12/hr. I dont LOVE my job, but I like it and
I have no plans to leave.
Oh yeah, if you dont like your present career and you want out, go for it. Where I work in IT there's 3 of us started out as fitter machinists and 1 as a boilermaker. Totally different worlds but we've all made it.
well you already know i love my job
but for the people who dont i manage one of the macadamia/avocado plantations for the the family
ive been back doing it now for 6 years
i did it for a while after i left high school but ive also tried my hand as a electronics technician, a courier, a fridgy and a mechanic but went back
to the farm cos i love being my own boss, working my to my own hours and schedule and when i get snowed under i just get dad to help me out a bit
plus i just gotta be out doors doing something different all the time, i go stir crazy being stuck in one workshop all day doing same repetative shit
over and over
best easiest nicest job for me was teaching music to handicapped kids. they loved it and everyday I came home with a different funny story. ![]()

I hate my job. I hate the shifts, I hate the roster but most of all I hate the fu*king guests that come in and complain about any pathetic trivial
thing!! Really I've had complaints such as "the birds are too noisy in the morning", "the bed's too hard/soft/lumpy/short","there's a bird
eating spider in my room","the pool's too hot/cold/deep", "it's supposed to be the sunshine coast and it's raining". I'm serious I've had
all these and more stupid ones believe me and when I give in my notice I will give all the answers I've waited to give over the years and actually
tell them what f**cking idiots they are. So be warned if you ever come to Noosa for a holiday check with AVD first to see if I'm still working or
else be prepared
For the financial year 2002-2003 I worked at the War Memorial in Canberra and was the spray painter for the Beaufort bomber, G for George Lancaster
bomber, Messerschmidtt 109 and 262 fighters as well as various other objects. Talk about an amazing group of people and some incredible machinery. I
shall never forget my time there, and I can go and see G for George whenever I go down there.
Now I own and operate my own restoration and fabrication business doing all sorts of things from seat mounts to chassis builds and tub jobs. I have to
say, I love my job. Most of the time anyway..........
I love my job, im a horticulturalist at our family nursery, work out side in the fresh air most people who garden are plesant except in spring people
can get short when its buisy but all round pritty good. The only down side is shit money 35k a year and we bought a house in feb and im finding it a
little tuff. We were going to start a family but would never survive on 1 wage (my missus erns less than me) I might not even re regester my bug next
year.
But i keep telling my self money isnt everything.
Deon
i just found this
"The average male wage in Australia is $62,556 per annum"
my wage is really shit.

Well, although not officially classed as a job, i love being a stay at home Dad!
You get your off days, but on the whole it's been great!
Plus it gave me loads of time to make music and dj over the UK and Europe.
Ahh..i miss that...

I really enjoy what I do and if anyone would like to buy a motor vehicle workshop with a really good regular clientelle,(lots of great volksy people)plenty of work and not enough hours in the day give me a call. i am ready to slow down a little if i can find the hours to go fishing, sailing, possibly paint the house, spend some time with my wife etc. cheers les
I love my job....most of the time. Im a fashion designer/manufacturer/retailer. In particular i design and manufacture Authentic steel boned tight
laced corsets for girls of all ages. Each day i have them over paying me to lace them up in my vintage style lingerie designs. Another part of my
job is doing shoots with beautiful models for my websites. I also own a corset and period style bridal shop that i run from a shop in the city as
well as one at my home. The funny thing is is when clients come over for a fitting at my home boutique they have to wade through all my V-dub greece
and crap before entering my shop. Im sure they must think they've come to the wrong place until they enter my shop and get blown away by what they
see. Hopefully soon ill have them separated and it will look a little more professional
1303Steve i envy you man...Last week a mate of mine, an RACQ service mechanic took me on a days work with him. I loved it so much and thought he had
the best job ever. I met so many interesting and cool people. What was real funny was that a couple of his jobs offered us beer for all his hard
work...All of which my mate couldn't drink but i was happy to enjoy in front of him. He was so pissed off lol. Now we both envy each others line of
work...
Joel my Uncle and Aunt own an avocado plantation at Crowsnest. It a beautiful way to make a living.
I love my job...
Im a massage theraphist. I came to work as a housekeeper (now managing the housekeeping team) but they needed a spa theraphist ... dug our my old
paperwork, and asked if I could try for the position.
Took some refresher courses (nails and massage)...and havent looked back. I love it.
I'm now 6 months pregnant, and although I'm asked if I will give it up soon as we get closer to having the baby...well.... I don't want to, so
plans are to keep doing until I want to give it up, or reduce time int he Spa.
And if I have too give it up, I hope to get back to it ASAP after bubby is born. An offer is there for me to manage the spa, which I'm ok with, but
my passion is actually doing the massages themselves. Everytime I do one, I feel more revived and relaxed, not more stressed.
And my partner who is a chef and one his feet all day...well he loves that he can come home, tell me his leg aches, feet are sore or his back has a
kink...and it pretty much gets fixed asap. He totally loves it.
And I love it so much I'm now doing a full diploma alongside learning three new massage techniques.
The pay isn't so bad. Plus I now have regular clients who come back each week to see me. So all in all, its been a major change from accounting
and bookeeping, but well worth it. I get to go to work knowing I'm always going to have a great day.
isky ill be the first to say wheres the shamless plug for the websites you speak of?
Plus it gave me loads of time to make music and dj over the UK and Europe.
More info needed or as they say in politics "please explain"
