well here is by problem, i have a 2 lit out of a 76 bus ,some
books say there hydrolic others say noisy whitch is correct and i know i will get the eng no morrow
So what is the question? Are the lifters noisy or do you need to know if they are hydraulic or solid. The problem in identifying which they are is that the engine may have been changed from Hydraulic to solids during its life and as such may not be true to the sticker on the fan housing.
that 2 & 4 r quiet and 13 are noisy whitch way do you go
If you run the engine for a minute, turn it off, and still have valve clearance you either have stuffed hydraulics or solids.
CJ cases are usually hydraulic from memory - (which might might be failing),
Also thought hydraulic follower bores were larger and so not interchangeable with solids (could be wrong though).
muirs says GE cases from august 1977 up, i know my aircooled vanagon had hydraulics
thanks all
