rose - September 1st, 2009 at 07:26 PM

Do I wear pants? :lol::lol:

Yes I'm watching.

We brought a stan engine for $2300 and it came with a car, we sold the car and kept the engine. And I'm going to test it out at Warwick.

last year when i spoke to stan about getting a engine built i asked a price for a twin plugged base and steroid, and my response was "WOW". i think some people will have a sad if i put the price up here thats why when they get asked they never tell you.. if i had the money i would of went down this road.. but at the time the price was to much for me... but as they say, he puts the HP were it counts....

"off subject a bit here". i found a old thread of greg wards on cal look forum, i got the empression he uses 48idfs with 36 vents, correct me if im wrong ..

VDUBXTC - September 2nd, 2009 at 01:39 AM

Why ask Craigy for a price. It wouldn't be the same price as the average joe blow would get it for would it?

dangerous - September 2nd, 2009 at 06:11 AM

Forget the prices for the sterioid motor,
wheres the pics of Rose!

and why wouldn't I pay the same? Stan runs a business not a charity, and I'm happy to pay like anybody else.

It's very easy to stand back froma distance and slag off Craig and Stan. It's very easy to say, "I want 138rwhp non-turbo 1916". But let's put it in perspective. Stan and Craig have been racing in the real world (not traffic light drags) for years and years now and their $$$ are backed by real titles and timesheets. If you want either of those things it costs $$$$$$$$$. Doesn't matter what motor you have in the car, anyone that wins that many titles has spent time and dollars getting their. The price Stan quotes you is for the quality he provides. Those of us who've been round a bit have realised, you get what you pay for.

And if you want to check Stans prices against a similar level of achievement ask the Penroses, the Debiasis or Dangerous what a proper 138rwhp engine would cost. I'd be surprised if it was a lot cheaper.

p.s. I don't work for or own a Pobjoy motor and probably never will, but I do respect someone who has spent so many years building some of the finest racing and street engines in the country.

Sides - September 2nd, 2009 at 05:56 PM

No disrespect intended, but to find out what something costs _right_now_ isn't it polite to just ask the builder direct ???

Sure I could tell you what I paid Stan for my engine 7 years ago, but I know both his standard spec and the price of the individual components has changed since then, so it'd completely irrelevant now.

I think the story would be the same no matter who the builder/supplier is.

ian.mezz - September 2nd, 2009 at 07:36 PM

ok
I am not a vw specialist.
I am a veedub enthusiast.
I own lots of veedubs from 1200 to 1916 and Subaru powered, if someone ask me about my cars i would be happy to share what I know.
If someone doesn't like one of my cars who cares it wont worry me.
since Craig is so proud of his 138 HP motor I don't think its unusual that some one may ask how much and even what sort of stuff goes into a vw motor besides 98 fuel to get these results.

JVL what sort of pop corn you eating ,salted??:lol:

cnfabo - September 2nd, 2009 at 07:42 PM

i dont know if some of you guys took what i said the wrong way. what i ment is at the time if i had the money stan charged, i would of slapped it down on his counter no worries. i have always wanted one of his donks. still do... but i had so much other stuff to do to my car at the time so cash had to go towards that aswell... bummer for me... maybee next time....

i might be a bit behind here, but has craig packed up his vw driving hillclimb boots to drive evo's ?????oh dear,lol....

Sides - September 2nd, 2009 at 08:27 PM

Oh - and there's also the big rule with race cars... don't EVER add up all the bits to a know what they actually cost !!!

... and even me who doesn't have a Financial Controller looking on sticks to that one.

;)

Castrol oil :lol::lol:

amazeer - September 2nd, 2009 at 11:35 PM

Is that with single or dual port heads? Have you tried running those vortex turbine power enhancers that you can get on ebay. Are they legal for your class of racing?

yeah craig's comments are his usual over reaction. when all else fails resort to verbal diatribe.
