So what's everyone on here listen to then?
djnee - September 7th, 2009 at 04:41 PM

Just wondered if any of us share musical tastes?

Besides the whole dance music thing which i've been doing for the past 5 years or so there's also a heap of bands i like too.

I can categorise them into 2 sections though....there's stuff i totally LOVE and are always on my playlist, and other bands that i'll listen to if i fancy a change!

Never off my playlist are:

The Get Up Kids
Morrissey
Mineral
Explosions In The Sky
This Will Destroy You

And i dip in and out of:

Snow Patrol
The Killers
The Editors
The Tragically Hip
Radiohead
Placebo
Rival Schools

Sorry if the thread has been done a million times (usually has!)

SKA SKA SKA

plus like everything else. I honestly can't think of a genre i hate. I have old school rock next to gangsta rap next to dance next to reggae next to thrash next to the interesting mashup that is skacore (hardcore ska, a lol-worthy adventure). I have 14 000 songs stretching over 32 days though so, you know, room for all

Dirtbag - September 7th, 2009 at 08:39 PM

METAL!!!!!!!! LOTS OF METAL!!!!!!!! Yes, I said metal, so that does not include pus like AC/DC : )

ratbug - September 7th, 2009 at 08:41 PM

PNAU
Presets

Shit, I must be getting old. Not that I am a big music listener, but out of the above I have only heard of Radiohead and Placebo.

I still like Cold Chisel, Beach Boys, AC/DC, The Angles, Meatloaf, Elvis (that will get some comments), Choir Boys, Ice House and more.

I guess its what you grow up with :-)

Signing off, the old bugger - Kev

The lead guitarist for new empire went to school at my school then came back as a media teacher for a while. Nice bloke. Caught my bus. And as for supporting local small bands we can all name some small obscure bands that no one has ever heard of. Or you can come out of the closet and admit how much you love listening to Miley

colonel mustard - September 7th, 2009 at 10:30 PM

Im not saying I do or Don't like listening to her, I just said she can't sing very well at all really, out of your nose is not a good breathing technique.

pod - September 7th, 2009 at 10:37 PM

Ease up man. You will break her heart. Her achey breaky heart

colonel mustard - September 7th, 2009 at 10:41 PM

^^ ah. sooooo lame. hahaha

Dude, when you say ska, you talking... reel big fish? Half way out? that sort of gear?

DaveCarter - September 7th, 2009 at 10:44 PM

From bob marley (the wailers were ska before reggae and ska formed reggae common misconception yadda yadda) up to reel big fish and everything in between. Not so into fish anymore though. Big D and the Kids Table are a good example of some good modern stuff (try a solng called noise complaint). Never heard half way out. Will look them up when my internet is uncapped

Pauld - September 7th, 2009 at 10:52 PM

at the moment loving hilltop hoods shes so ugly, its awesome, the rest of that album is good to also tzu are good as the first time i saw them play was one of the best live shows iv seen, also a bit of a country nut running from the old school alan jackson thru to brad paisley, big and rich cowboy troy, adam brand, lee kernaghan , trace adkins, just to name a few

colonel mustard - September 7th, 2009 at 10:57 PM

Halfwayout are no longer together, but were a bit AUS ska band.. well, thats how id define them anyway

DaveCarter - September 7th, 2009 at 11:02 PM

for good aussie ska the only 2 real big players that i know of these days (got a bit out of the scene) are los capitanes from canberra and the porkers from newcastle. Seen them live more times then i can count (once when i was one of 12 people in the crowd lol). Awesome energy live and fun to liten to

STIDUB - September 8th, 2009 at 12:42 AM

depends on the mood.. various artists/genre's from 60s till now, slightly less of now though commercial radio music is getting worse by the minute these days, same goes for tv :tu: in fact, just about anything except screaming crap metal or country gets a play every week for me :)
