The Newcastle Herald had photos and a brief story about 2 mates who were hurt when a Kombi burst into flames yersterday.
The boys were working on the fuel lines under the vehicle when boom, up she went.

Be carefull!!
Rip sorry to see
R.I.P
but i still remember pulling the fuel tank out with my father and then we both realized he was smoking.
Not Good...
Bad burns are nasty things to have..
plus the loss of the Kombi...
I wonder what caused the explosion...??
Fuel but where did the spark come from??
Maybe a couple of fire extinguishers could have saved it??
depending on how much fuel...
and it seems there was lots of fuel to feed the fire...
I don't normally disconnect My beetle's battery to do anything to the engine or fuel line etc...
LEE
i was wondering the same thing Lee.
The site mentioned about an efi pump!?! but i mean, u wouldn't disconnect it with ignition on anyways... otherwise it will be pressurising hte fuel
lines and any lines disconnected would spurt a massive mess. and if the ignition isn't on... then no electricity is going to it.
Maybe something extraordinarily hot? or a cigarette... i am really curious...
if they want another one.
I seen one on the side of the road for sale at Islington , not far from where they live , they may be able to buy it with the insurance pay out.
