Distance beat me this time so hope that the Qld weather was kind to you all and that you had a good day. Looking forward to seeing some photos.
You missed a very good event!
Weather was perfect, venue was excellent and some very nice cars, as always.
One complaint - that gorgeous 914 isn't mine!
I didn't quite know why the 914 was there?
Good day out. A few new cars I hadn't seen before.
what a top spot for a show.......had a great time.
Well the 914 was always marketed as a VW Porche...........
914 has a Vw badge on one side and a Porsche badge on the other. It was commonly called the car that neither company wanted to take ownership of!!
I want the rims off it.
I agree that it is a good spot for a car show.
Me and the boy with a burger under a shade tree looking over the event was all time.

Its not the same action day, without you running around trying to do all the jobs at once!
Still no pics and no results?

Oh i beg to differ what are you Happy Gilmores boss with a nail in your head, the 914 is still porsche vw so it can be there.
Sshhh its the bastard child no one from both families wants to talk about (like the 924 Porsche) They wander the earth looking for respect and never
finding it.
hey i think the 914 had more vw parts in it than some of the off
roaders any way.......................

Cheers Grahame.
I heart this car
Should there be a Porsche class next year? VW now owns Porsche after all.
Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Lamborgini and Bugatti could enter as well.
Yeah, categories is a tough one - ideally you want to have enough to keep everyone happy, but at the same time it possibly doesn't make sense to have
a category with only 1 or 2 entries. Should Country Buggy's get their own category for example.
For Action Day this year we decided the categories based on what cars entered the previous year, so yeah - the list might be different next year.
Oh and re the 914 being the bastard child that no-one wants - hell I'd love to have one of 'em as a nice little track toy !!!
There were a few categories with only 1 car, so yes I understand it's tough to decide which categories to keep and which to drop. Although I think
the country buggy / buggy / baja combined class probably had one of the higher numbers of entries at the show.
For me I just take my car to add some variety to the show. I know people like looking at it, particularly kids - they love to pose for photos near it
As for the 914, I've been going to VW shows for 15 years and I don't think I've seen a Porsche enter the show before. Therefore I was naturally a
little surprised to see one.

914 motor is pretty much a kombi motor, let him come if he wants to, hey bring on the 356 porsches!
Hasn't there been a porsche of some discription been entered in the last couple of shows up here in brisbane?.
I don't mind them being there. they are still a vw in a way
I dont' mind them there, I just didn't know why it was there. I mean, if I owned a Porsche, I wouldn't take it to a VW show
914's like 411/412 have been on again/off again at shows mainly due to low numbers in Oz. I have seen them about at shows over the years though.
914/4 didn't share much with VW other than the motor and I think a couple of suspension bits.
They are a little more visible at shows down south.
I think there's room at VW's shows for 356's, 914's, 912's etc that did have a link back to the VW factory, just like Karman
Are there any other pictures from this event?
bump
Oh no this is my fault I own the bastard child 914, Folks I did not go expecting or wanting to win a trophy, why did I take it, Mainly because there
are'nt that many around and I thought some one may enjoy having a poke around it. Also the action day flyer had a picture of a 911 on it( help me out
here, the yellow car, can any one else see it, anyone.........). I appologise to those who I upset/offended that was not my intention, I am truly
sorry.
If I may, even though it's been touched on above, the cars DNA
Body built at Karmann factory, same one as Karmann Ghia's (I can prove this as they both rust at exactly the same rate)
VW type IV (modified) motor similar to KOMBI
VW brakes VW wheels VW Switches (lights wipers ignition etc) VW idiot lights.
Porsche gearbox front suspension speedo and tacho.
So where does it belong, Porsche guys think w#*nker in a VW, VW guys think w@*nker in a porsche, maybe i am a w@*nker but you know I like the car
and I can live with that.
I really enjoyed the show, loved all the cars and look forward to next year, maybe just as a spectator.
If this one has no cred here, maybe my past cars will get me out of trouble, 60's bug, 60's baja, 71 beetle, 77 Kombi Camper
Thanks for letting me rant
cheers
John
ps this is my second attempt at this post if it appears twice sorry for that as well
No one was offended. It is great to see our Porsche brothers mixing with the Dubs. See ya at the next meet.
I was not there long but managed a couple pics... It was a good day and great venue. Great job guys.
