in the neverending quest to improve my computers working environment... i went and got it some RAM, because RAM is cheap right now...
anyhoo, went into the shop, asked for the ram i wanted, they told me they were all sold out but they had some faster ram that would DEFINITELY work in
my machine. im no stranger to computers and this seemed a little bit odd to me, but i bought it in good faith that they said it should for sure no
problems work, and took it home.
It didnt work. It didnt work no matter how many different ways i tried to make it work. I took it back to them and told them it didnt work. They
tested it, said it worked fine and that it should work in my computer, so there must be something wrong with my computer.
!!!!!!!!!! My computer was working perfectly fine, if a little low on memory, until i put in their product!!!!!
And they wouldnt exchange or refund it!
so im going to take the whole machine in there tommorow and tell them i want to see them make it work, and if they cant make it work i would like them
to exchange the ram for the right stuff till it does work!!!
anyways, the point of this rant is that this is from a rather prominent, very cheap and extremely popular (because they are the cheapest) computer
company on the southside of brisbane, and i would just like to warn anyone who goes there about how rude and dodgy they are!
*sigh* End rant:cussing

Have you still got the old RAM in there as well? It's generally not a good idea to mix RAM of different speeds, or even different brands. They
SHOULD have told you that though. I think its pretty low that they won't refund your money even though they've tested the RAM and know its
still ok. What's the point in making you pay for something you can't use? Surely they can see that they're not going to gain good-will
through such actions.
I would take the computer to a different computer shop. The shop that sold you the RAM is just going to make more money out of you if you go to them
again. From what you've told us, they really don't deserve it. :cussing
I think what you are doing is the right thing, At least give them the oppurtunity to rectify the problem. If they can not get it to work, then ask again for your money back, if they refuse, ask for the reason in writing. Explain to them you will need this when you present it to The Office Of Fairtrading.
thats the right way to do it also make sure u speak loudly with heaps of customers in the store :P
So does it work?
yeah do keep us updated on how its went
The guy at the service desk was most helpfull. The first thing he said was that nobody should have told me that it would work for sure... thumbs up
there. He tested it all out anf told me my mobo was a bit funny and that i needed to take it all apart to install new ram... weird, that never
happened with the old ram!
anyhoo, it works... great... woohoo. Their after-sales service is still shite!!!
