Does anyone have electronic ignition on their beetle?
Does it perform better?and what is the best kit to use on a 75L?

depends what you want out of it

on a stock motor electronic igniton performs no better than properly set points
some say easier starting.... i call BS on that but i used to occasionally have probs in the wet with mine not starting with points

once u start hotting up the motor gains start becoming more noticable

most just like the set and forget properties but get a good quality one, cheap ones like empi have a high failure rate, at the most inconvenient times

i got a pertronix ignitor II and was happy with it

Whats the difference between an Ignitor and Ignitor II?

just variable dwell

i've failed to notice all the improvements they claim it makes

ive spoken to the guys about the ignitor 1 and 2 the main difference is that 2 if the ignition is left on doesnt do any damage to the unit while the ignitor 1 is a little tempramentle

This is what's on my bug and I haven't noticed any difference at all it still goes just as hard as what it did before.
Just now I don't have to worry about points anymore.
