I posted this on a couple of other forums, so apologies if you've seen it already.
We had some great thunder & lightening here last night, so i took about 20 mins of video footage using the digital camera so i could get some
stills from it.
This ones a beauty...smacked right onto our car!
Weird thing is at the time the lightening didn't appear to be that close.
Scary!
Can even see stuff coming down the rear of the car too....

Yeah, it was weird though Lee...as none of the lightening seemed that close to us! Agree that we were pretty lucky though!
Didnt feel the hairs on my arms stick up either, and the car seems unscathed!

Awesome shot with the lightening hitting the car,I suppose you may get a Gov grant for carbon trading with an electric vehicle.Actually i know how hard it must be to be in the right place with a cameram
at the right time.Well done

Yeah, thats why i took video's as i reckon it's near impossible to get single images with a bog standard camera.
I then view the video in Sony Vegas 7 and from there you can grab stills.
Actually it's just started kicking off again here, so i might get some more tonight!

You just need a camera with a manual or Tv (shutter speed priority) setting. Set it to a long exposure (in seconds) and put it on a tripod. Then cross
your fingers. This was taken with a Canon S3IS point and shoot style camera.

I'd hate to live where you are Wes...
My two large Dogs have to sit between my legs when there is thunder....
and its very uncomfortable...... to say the least...
Many years ago, using a Pentax 35mm camera i had
I took a delayed exposure shot of the fire works on the Sydney harbour bridge off My TV...
came out perfect.... lol never ever tried to do it again.... lol
I take my sunset shots off my roof...lol
LEE
PS this is a pic of the sun during one of the many dust staorms we had in Scone..
