Hey guys just wondering what you think is a reasonable price to hire a beetle for a couple of hours for a wedding?? Just received a email asking me if they could hire my car. Any ideas??? I have told him $50 an hour. too much, too little?? what do you say?
A good mate of mine paid $100 for the day per car (x2) (55 oval and 58 beetle) Plus he paid for their fuel costs as they had to drive almost an hr each way
Does that include you??
Do you get a feed etc etc
Yeh that includes me. Will only be for a couple of hours. When he asked what the cost was going to be i didnt have a clue so i just said 50 per hour. By going on VDUBXTC it seems i quoted him way too much lol. Ohh well, he seems happy enough with it from his email response. Im not to sure on whether or not we get a feed lol
i think that for a couple hours and your time and fuel 50 bux an hour would be cheap but fair
i was going for 2-3 bugs hire and drivers was going to be 3 k!!!
Licenced wedding cars are $150 first hour, plus $50 per hour after

I'd say you have offered them a bargain!
do you get a bridesmaid?
I worked with 2 guys that had white hsv clubsports. One was married in his 40's, the other single in his 20's. Neither of them wanted to guys in his
car in case they were pissed and trashed it. The younger one wanted the girls... so he won the argument. He didnt pick up, the girls were pissed and
trashed his car.
I am a partner in a limo service, and that is $300 for the first hour and $100 per hour after for a RHV licenced vehicle and driver.
$600 for a 4 hour hire classic car or limo wedding car is average price. Some very special vehicles get up around $900 for a minimum 4 hour hire.
Understanding they are RHV licenced vehicles through the Victorian Taxi Directorate.
I hired my beetle for a high school formal drop off last night. 45 minute drive plus half an hour for photos. I charged $150. Buy the time you add
fuel and a hourly rate there and back and the time it takes to prep the car its got to be worth your while.
I asked a limo driver there what he charged for his 11 seat rig and he said $1200.
ive done a couple of weddings and a formal in mine now
i usually charge $100 as well
Be very careful about what you are considering here.
I don't want to be a wet blanket, but if you hire out your Beetle, whether you drive it or not and there is an "accident" or other mishap, you
could find yourself being sued.
I assume that you do not have millions of dollars worth of public liability insurance, so I say again, be very very careful.
Getting a few hundred dollars for a few hours could cost you everything that you own and everything that you will ever earn for the rest of your
life.
Leave that sort of thing to the fully insured professional limo hire industry. I know they don't have Beetles and Kombis and that there is a demand
for them as hire vehicles, but that's not your problem.
I say, "Don't do it !".
i charge a flat rate but I'm registered & as Shaihulud said be very careful as no licence & your up for massive fines & total
responsibility if in an accident NO MATTER WHO'S AT FAULT.
All you need is a pissed off hire car owner to point the minister of transport to this site & those of you that have stated that you received
money for the service & have no licence to do so then whats written here can be used in court against you.

i do it as a "favour" free of charge for friends
your car insurance probably wont cover you either because its not private use.
im just saying to advertise on an open forum like this is asking for trouble & as amazeer has noted insurance companies will not cover you in an
accident as its under the same law as having an accident in an unregistered vehicle naturally.
you can do it for mates but not be paid for it, as soon as your paid then its a business.
The Passenger Transport Act requires that operators of private hire vehicle services must be accredited by New South Wales Transport and
Infrastructure (formerly Ministry of Transport).
A maximum fine of $110,000 may be imposed for operating a private hire vehicle service without appropriate accreditation by New South Wales Transport
and Infrastructure (NSWTI).
What I should of said is that I drove a friend to her formal and she made a "donation" to the Alien8 Foundation for Veedubacemia.
Jezz, next time someone asks me to hire the Beetle I am going to say no way.
No way am I gettin fined 100 g's.
Does that mean that if i give someone a lift i cant charge them petrol money?
bloody hell i didnt know it was so scrutinized! I mean all im doing by the sounds of what the guy has told me is to drive around the corner a short distance. I think it's more for photo opportunities anyways. I'm going ahead with it. I'm pretty sure im not gonna crash the car!
