Some crazy shit is going on in the Adelaide Hills!
My wife came home from a friends house an hour or so ago and said she couldn`t lock her car (with the remote key fob). I went and had a look, couldn`t
suss it out so thought bugger it, it`s a 6 month old car under warranty, I`ll call the dealer in the morning. Just went out to get something out of my
car (`05 Pathfinder daily driver) and the bloody thing won`t unlock!
I thought I`d try putting the key fob close up to the reciever on top of the dash (through the windscreen) and it unlocked. Tried my wifes car and
same deal.
I`m thinking it could some kind of magnetic/electonic/radio interference thats floating around for some reason??????
Anyone had this sort of trouble before?
The Splitty still unlocks ok!!
get rid of the new stuff, and buy a couple more splitty's!
Too much of a co-incidence to have the batteries run low at the same time I guess??
My guess is radio interference.
When I lived in Sydney, if I parked near the radio tower in St Leonards the VT Clubby I had would refuse to unlock or sometimes start cos of the
immobiliser.
One time had to call NRMA out to get it running, and he reckoned it was a pretty common issue around there.
You may have high powered transmitters nearby causing the interference..
try operating the remote next to a blinker lamp at the rear or front...
I usually use the rear blinker on My 68 beetle and Lancer...
Sometimes they don;'t want to work...
I've never really thought about it...
at home I can switch them both from inside My house and garage and carport are 10 meters away...
it does pay to renew the batteries before they stop working ..lol
cheers
Lee
Try the rear blinkers and let Me know...
My blinkers all flash when the alarms are set etc on both My Lancer and My Beetle... LEE

Powerlines???
Yes, could be power line interference..
Look how great they work in an underground car park.. lol
with no interference etc at all...
LEE
Hey guys thanks for the replies.
Got up this morning and they were both working! (from like 10 or so metres away like you said Lee).
Bizzarre!
I live fairly close to the radio transmitters on the summit of Mount Lofty but I have never had that sort of trouble before. We`ve had some crazy
weather lately so maybe it was some electro magnetic force or something!??
I reckon it would be vertually impossible for all the batteries on 4 keys from 2 different cars one which is 4 years old and one which is 6 months old
to go flat at the same time!
Sorry to talk boring daily driver crap but this was so wierd!
Graham.
I remeber there was a Top Gear episode where Jeremy walked far enough away from a car with remote locking, so that the remote wouldn't work (get a
signal to unlock/lock the car). He then pusshed the remote to his head, pressed the "unlock" button and Waalaaaa, the car unlocked Set up? maybe, try it out
haha ever read the sign in the mount lofty carpark gra??? cos of all the transmitters/recievers up there is says do not immobilise your vehicle as it will be impossible to remove lol
