Beetle Racing PC simulator

Hi all,

I came across some footage on youtube of a mod for a popular car racing simulator, called rFactor.

It is a mod that changes the game into a Classic Beetle Racing series. Good bit of fun for those of us without the funds to afford the real thing.

You can get a lite version of the game (133mb) download which gives you an hour of free game play. You then download the mod pack (another download, 75mb), install following the directions, and you are away.

If you like the game, it will cost $39.99 to register it, which just unlocks your installed version and you don't have to change anything.

So, for those out there who understood any of the above, it is a good hour of entertainment for nicks.

for the lite version of the game.

for the beetle mod. You need to register. It is for this reason that I have three email addresses. It is free and instantaneous to register and download.

You can also find a heap of skins and put them into the game. After some faffing I got a Herbie skin to work on mine. Can't control the car on the track though.

You won't like it though Colonel - They are all 64 - 67 models that I have found. No Supers unfortunately.

You download and install the game first.

Then download the patch (Beetle Mod) and unzip it.

Then replace the existing folders in the installed game directory with the folders in the unzipped patch file.

As far as the skins go, I got it to work by downloading the herbie skin, then finding the folder of the skins I hated (Starbucks) and renamed all the herbie files with the names or the starbucks files, then deleted the starbucks ones and replaced them with the renamed herbie ones. If that makes sense. I only got one skin to work this way, but if you ask on the rfactor forums I'm sure they would help.

By the way, I don't work for them or anything. Just a geek for the Bugs.
