there wasn't a TV guide for 7two in the TV guide...

too many free to air stations now...
I wonder what the TV guides are going to do..

they also only show a few of the pay TV channels..

its been years since i tortured myself by sitting through that movie

if you can find the rest of that scene it goes from being a 72Sbug to an early 70s standard when it hits to a late 70s US fuel injected bug

colonel mustard - December 28th, 2009 at 12:16 PM

i cant find any more of it... im really looking for when he shouts "volkswagen", thats the funny part. Its funny that they use different ones though. hahah.

oh, whats the go with your mood joel... :S

you can kinda see it in the first pic but its really obvious in the movie the tyre tracks in the grass from earlier takes

im a shocker for point out movie faults

Also interesting to see that the fresh collision damage has already resulted in rust on the exposed metal.........a madly corrosive atmosphere on US golf courses, perhaps that also affected Tiger's better judegment?

helbus - December 28th, 2009 at 09:07 PM

My 3 yo son watches The Love Bug about 10 times a week, so when he saw it on television when I was channel surfing, there was no chance of anything else allowed to be on that night. I put the DVD in, just so I didn't have to endure the commercials.

Phil74Camper - January 2nd, 2010 at 03:24 PM

That 1996 TV remake is crap.

Stick to the '69 original - available on DVD from all good retailers.

68AutoBug - January 2nd, 2010 at 09:01 PM

Yes,
as said, that isn't a late model beetle with the shock absorber bumpers...

its NOT fuel injected either...

that damaged Beetle was sitting a while to rust...

I wonder why the bonnet handle was missing???
very difficult to open without it.. lol

maybe the stunt guy didn't like it..

rust is so bad in the northern states that hitting someone can rip the guard off...

yea it is,

all bugs after 75 in the US WERE fuel injected
thats why it has a single tailpipe exhaust to the side for the cat converter

I am still trying to find the DVD of the LOVEBUG movie that has Horace the hate bug in the movie, I have the set but that one.

Phil74Camper - January 4th, 2010 at 08:14 AM

There have been FIVE cinema release Herbie films:

The Love Bug (1969) - available on DVD
Herbie Rides Again (1974) - available on DVD
Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo (1977) - available on DVD
Herbie Goes Bananas (1980) - available on DVD
Herbie Fully Loaded (2005) - available on DVD

The other one, also confusingly called The Love Bug (1997) was only a TV movie. It was never released in cinemas and was only aired originally on the US CBS TV network. It is a shoddy remake of the original Love Bug and stars Bruce Campbell (and Horace the Hate Bug) with orginal Love Bug star Dean Jones in a cameo spot. It is shown regularly on pay TV (Disney Channel) but Disney has not released it on DVD as yet.

There was also a TV series (Herbie The Matchmaker) in 1982 but it was cancelled after only 5 one-hour episodes. It has since been shown on US pay TV but again, Disney has not released it to DVD.
