URGENT abandoned Golf ???? Tas rego.
FROSTY - January 5th, 2010 at 02:31 PM

Hi There,
This golf (Tasmania rego) has been parked and had a couple of parking tickets attached, Does any one know who's it is? It is in Cypress Tce. Palm Beah. Gold Coast QLD btween 6th and 7th ave. I think the City Council will be there in the next couple of days to take it away.
It also looks like it would go too, roll cage, mags and increased track width....

Don't know, but I can post up on the watercooled forum for you if you want, as there's plenty more golfers there who might take an interest or know something.

thats a good idea someone on the wter cooled forum may know the owner on some on there may recognise the car

FROSTY - January 5th, 2010 at 04:23 PM

Thanks GK that would be perfect, i don't want to see this thing taken by the council and crushed. I'm just down the street from where it is and can help move it if needed.
Thanks
Jason frost

I just used the graphic posted by someone over at VWW. I wish I knew how to do it!

Yep, it does indeed appear to be Nate's caged 16v. He's no longer a registered user over at VWW, so dunno.

Google Tasmanian Transport Department Reg Status :tu:

Nate, name rings a bell but cant put a face (or number) to the name.

Water Boy - January 5th, 2010 at 11:10 PM

I beleive Nathan Glover is the owner! Something to do with electrical! Someone rescue the car and then go from there...

Water Boy - January 5th, 2010 at 11:26 PM

I have just spoken to Nathan now...

The car is back at his house.

Some stuff has been stolen though. Nathan has just got back from Tassie and the car broke down on a test run.

Stolen was:

Steering wheel
K-jet injection
Radiator
A blue box full of 16v parts in the boot

Someone must know something about it.

Please PM if ya know anything. We just need to get Nathan's stuff back.

FROSTY - January 6th, 2010 at 01:26 PM

now that puts my mind at ease that it hasn't been picked up by the council.

MISS VDUB - January 6th, 2010 at 02:07 PM

How has that put your mind at ease?

I feel that some people may have felt like they were doing the right thing here by posting this car up to find its owner, when i think all it has actually done is attract thieves. A golf in that condtition i would not think was abandoned, i know i wouldn't want to leave my pride and joy for too long.

As above you have posted up its exact location for the world to see. Now i think we need to find these bastards.

greasykitchen - January 6th, 2010 at 02:47 PM

The post actually helped reunite car with owner (see the VWW thread - Water Boy was able to get in touch with the owner). The car was 18 months out of rego and left on a yellow line/zebra crossing, so it didn't look like it was just parked. Thieves probably took the bits before it was posted here.

So overall, a happy ending, I'd say, with the help of some concerned VeeDubbers.

FROSTY - January 6th, 2010 at 05:25 PM

ARE YOU TRIPPING "MISS" It clearly has TAS plates and is sitting (to me) abandoned if not stolen in QLD. It now seem that the owner must be close by living in Palm Beach. All I wanted to do was help the owner before someone either took it or the council crush it.
Also the pics that you have seen are 2 years old and its not quite in the same condition.....

Water Boy - January 6th, 2010 at 08:09 PM

Was on the phone again spekaing to Nathan at lunch time.

I have the full story:

Nathan parks car at friends unit (As seen and spotted by walshydub)

http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc335/walshy1981/IMG_0133.jpg

The car was stolen from these units and broke down at the zebra crossing. As the owner was away he had no idea it was gone. Nathan comes back 2 days ago to find his car gone.

Then found here:

http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh297/greasykitchen/VWs/05012010133.jpg

When Nathan found the car at 6pm it was complete and had a flat tyre. So he returened at around 9:30pm with a replacement wheel. When he returend the following things had been stolen:
-Steering wheel
-Radiator
-Kjet lines, induction pipe but left airbox (Looks like they couldn't get it un-done)
-The blue box in the back had a brand new rocker cover with 16v badge on it, some other head bits including head studs, gaskets etc.

Car was then towed to Nathan's new place.

Someone left this phone number on the windscreen: 0402338178

So if anyone knows any thing let me know...

Gringo_54_oval - January 6th, 2010 at 08:29 PM

i recon the person who posted his curiousity on this forum did the right thing because some shits missing but the car is back sort of complete not crushed crashed or burnt.so good job to the person/persons who helped the owner get his lil beast back.:tu:
