Changing bolt patterns of wheels not brakes?
sander288 - January 17th, 2010 at 08:23 AM

I've currently got 5x205 wheels brakes etc... really want to have 4 wheel discs 5x130 but I like my stock steel wheels.

Is is possible to cut the bolt circle out and replace it with a 5x130 circle... has anyone heard of this done?

Cheers
Shaun

anything can be done, whether it is legal is another thing, some engineers can/will do it for you, just need a suitable lathe.

Changing from 5x205 to 5x130 by cutting and welding would be frankly terrifying. I'm assuming that the reason for the 5x130mm wheels would be to fit some Porsche brakes? Why not fit Porsche wheels as well? You should be able to find some Porsche steels without too much effort. If you really must fit the wide-5 rims, then I'd be leaning more towards making up adaptor plates rather than welding in a new bolt circle. Having said this though, adaptor plates are highly illegal and dangerous! I would never recommend anyone to put them on their car, but they're still better than welding in a new bolt circle!

Here is what a Porsche 5x130 steel looks like. Not the same as a wide-5 steel, I agree.
