The Silver Lining... Share your good news.
The_Bronze. - July 5th, 2003 at 09:52 AM

Let me share with you our good news - this has been a good week for the Bronze household. :kiss

The wife picked up our new 98 model Subaru Forester this week, metalic green and pristine. I felt sorry for the car salesman - Sally broke him five and a half grand, twelve months rego and a new window from what he was asking. It's Ex-government, 5 years old and only 86 thousald kilometers. She thinks she will be able to follow me in the Dog-O-War [71 Baja] - Tell here she's dreamin! :D

A good sign that the monkey is finally off our back and were moving out from behind the 8 ball. The days of living like a Uni-student are over and were reaping the rewards of our hard work.

Probably just as exciting is I now have a budget for the Baja. Gone are the day of sweating about dammage and the prices of getting work done plus I'm now allowed to bid at Ebay. Second to that is we have finally chosen a colour for the Dog-O-War. We've painted the guards and I'm very happy with the result. Will tell you more when I have some pics to show off.

Bronze, after 6 years total of uni study I can empathise with your financial relief of full time work! I wouldn't be able to finish this project (nor start it) if I was still at uni!

Glad to hear things are going well.

SKEWtYpe3 - July 6th, 2003 at 12:26 AM

yeah good stuff !
I have been following your plight and cant imagine even trying to work ona project when i was studying !
You deserve it all and more !

Grey 57 - July 6th, 2003 at 10:12 AM

Good news Bronze. Couldn't happen to a nicer more deserving family too IMHO.
Great to see you are sticking with the flat 4 for a family car too mate.
See in ya Valla. :beer:beer:thumb

The_Bronze. - July 6th, 2003 at 07:43 PM

I wasn't maning to blow horns - but rereading it I guess it sounds that way. I was just a little peaved, you know you buy a car and go show your mates - I/we know very few people here and you are quite literally my friends. Just wanted to share some good news.

I don't know if I'd call the Dog-O-War a project. It's really just transport but in the interest of becoming reliable its becoming a project. As you all know VW's or precision machinery of any ilk do not fair well to financial neglect. Time to put some money in the slot at the top. Machanicals / Electrical / Paint and then hopefully sound.

The_Bronze. - July 6th, 2003 at 09:03 PM

Grey 57 - July 6th, 2003 at 09:13 PM

Tough town eh!
Go on, live dangerously.

Craig Torrens - July 6th, 2003 at 09:13 PM

You don't need "sounds" when you can listen to the purrrr of the motor !!!

Spook - July 7th, 2003 at 08:07 AM

So you retired the Telstar.
We retired the red thing.
Her ladyship is now the proud owner of a 626.

How are you finding the north west winter with no heater in your car??

The_Bronze. - July 8th, 2003 at 08:42 PM

It's not the local Dean - I'd fry in a black car out here.

The winter is just fine Spook - I love the cold. Took the in-laws for a spin in the Dog today and showed them the sigts of Dubbo. Took about an hour. I drove slow.

Don't need a heater - with it fully carpeted inside it holds the warmth from the day before beautifully. Wouldn't mind sealing up the holes in the dash though -they get a bit annoying on the cold mornings when I get a pace up.

Quickbug - July 8th, 2003 at 08:54 PM

Good to hear! :thumb

I wish my clouds had silver linings. My clouds only get blacker and blacker. :(

Bugged Again - July 8th, 2003 at 10:37 PM

Just get in the veedubb and go for a drive the clouds will disappear, for a little while at least.

Bronze does your good fortune have anything to do with moving away from Newcastle???? :o:o

The_Bronze. - July 9th, 2003 at 08:39 AM

I'm sad to her that Quickbug :(. Go for a drive - find a huge mud puddle and blast through it. Has always helped me forget the blackening clouds.

Bugged - I think it has everything to do with it since I move here for a fulltime job. The other bonus is that here I only have to drive three minutes to get to anywhere and we have almost everything. The traffic means I'm not in the car for and hour and a half each day idling at traffic lights and I can find a car park everywhere I go. I love rural / regional Australia. Doubt I'd move back to Newcastle.

Spook - July 9th, 2003 at 10:13 AM

Thought that once myself.
Destiny had other plans......

Bugged Again - July 9th, 2003 at 01:36 PM

wweren't you at west wallsend, thats not really newxcastle any more, at least it wasn't when i was living there.

I got out and ended up in Brissie, destiny was good to me but i still support the Knights.

Quickbug - July 9th, 2003 at 04:10 PM

Yeah great suggestion guys, only two probs.
1) no petrol money
2) clutch just shat itself on the way to work...

It only gets worse..:(

daz67 - July 9th, 2003 at 04:16 PM

Whats wrong with Orange????????

:cry

Are you Mocking me?:(

BiX - July 9th, 2003 at 07:18 PM

Well after a really #$^@ week the silver lining has been found for my monsson sized storm cloud. I just found out that I have scored a semi job for 13 weeks. It will allow me to do my thesis, work experince amd count as 4 of 5 subjects for the semester:D. So for 13 weeks iam playing around with waste water!!!!!!!!!!

Spook - July 10th, 2003 at 06:40 AM

Is that anything like shovelling shit??

The_Bronze. - July 10th, 2003 at 09:09 AM

Great news BiX - Was hoping for a break like that during my internship for 10 weeks but it didn't come around. It just put me closer up the arse of the 8 ball.

Anyhow...

Bugged - Not West Wallsend - Elermorevale which is more like South Wallsend near Glendale. It's pretty much the western suburbs of Newcastle though so in a sence you are right - but the hassle was I had to get into Edgeworth (West) and then Newcastle (East) each day for teaching and the driving was driving me nuts. Would have been ok if school started at 2am and finished at 11 am when the roads were drivable.

Daz- Bronze opinion only: Orange sux!
________________ is much better!

BiX - July 10th, 2003 at 06:49 PM

no spook this is a industrial plant not a municpal plant. It has high levels of fat and salts. But it still stinks to high water:puke:puke. But hey I like this sort of stuff and am going to be doing it for the rest of my life. Got a bit more silver today , got results back. d,c,c,p,f so pretty happy with that. mate got 5 d's,1 hd

The_Bronze. - July 10th, 2003 at 11:35 PM

Yeah - I had mates like that too. Bastards.

New everything about the subject and nothing about the world.

Congrats on the results - those F's sting. Worst thing about them is redoing the subject. Listening to the same crap and trying not to write the same answers again.
