my mate has used roof insulation on his mini. seems to do pretty good. maybe some kind of foam from Clark rubber or one of those foam shops??

I got some foam from Clarks. The store guy said that they sell heaps of it for that particular purpose. Its nice and light weight and squishy. Only for the sides though. The roof I did in pro quality adhesive sound deadner foam. I thought that would be a spot where you would not want to skimp on a quality product.
And another tip is to use 3M heavy duty spray adhesive or trim shop glue for the foam, the cheap stuff peels real quick and looks horrible under the headliner.

clark rubber also have a self adhesive heat reflective foam sheet (about 10mm I think) that I used on my kombi interior roof with no problems reported. just measure cut to size, peel off plastic and push up to stick. easy as.

have a look at my build thread - page 2 or 3 - there are some shots of us doing it there. We used foam. Careful with Dynamat, its not as light as foam, so if it peels of our loses its stick it will peel off the roof unto your upholstery bit.

my ride thread is in my signature.
