It is a photo of an original totally unmodified 1967 VW Beetle 1300 Deluxe
driving across the Jardine River on its way back from Cape York. The
picture was taken in the mid-1980s during August. The river is infested
with crocodiles. So, if you stall you can't safely get out and push!
Nowdays there is a ferry service.

Simon Glen.
lol, thats awesome. a type 3 couldn't do that could it? air intakes are too low right?
Steven
the carbi is up high but it would be pushing its limits cos it would want to be floating if the water were a foot deeper i reckon, but its safe.
Thats crazy and i love it !
Simon has some good stuff ! Say hi for me tazz, he knows me.
You mean that a bit of water isnt going to kill the bug? this is fantastic news! no more need i worry about finding alternative transport to bush
parties when it has been raining!
Woohoo!!:thumb:thumb:thumb
I wonder if his electrics at the back were still working?
it wouldnt have deck lid louvers so the engine should be relatively dry?
am i right?
as the forward movement would mean the water would be pulled out of the engine bay, like a hole in the back of a boat to let cabin water out.
Does this make sense ? hope u understand it :bounce
