36HP Generator
SPRINTSTAR - January 29th, 2010 at 09:43 AM

I have asked this question before but the usual response has been that it's impossible yet in the US it appears to be common practice. I could send mine there but the wieght proves to costly. Is there any place in Oz where I can send my 6volt 36hp generator and reco it and convert it to 12volts as well?
Thanks!
AL

there was a place in QLd a few years ago but i think they have shut down

u would be better off purchasing a 90mm 12 V porsche genny and use it

A generator from an old Porsche works well. Same size as a 6V VW unit but puts out 12V.

mate ask around places that use forklifts as a lot of forks are 6-9 volt and if you can find a place that can rewind yours to 9 volt you will have a grin on ya dial, with 9 volt it wont hurt any of your 6 volt system wipers lights starter radio etc
good luck
and give vintage vee dubs call thats what they do or george at clasic a new one would a good way to go failing i have a few of them and i will send you 1 free if you pay freight
have yu had a look at the brushes on yours

Aldo, I might have a spare 912 12v small body generator. I'll have to dig it out from the stuff I have in storage. It will fit on a 36hp pedestal and give you 12v/38A

Give me a call on 0421-044987 if your interested.

Thanks
